Not only will he grovel to save his own hide, if you aggro him and grovel back, he'll spare yours too. That forever cements him as a man with principles in my eyes.

Patches would never do that. He is my best pal. He even showed me new place, mighty treasures and toxic castle too. Sure, he accidentally kicked me, but it was only a accident.
Tbh, stats do even less in this game early on than in any dark souls game, simply due to the insane amount of smithing stones you can now upgrade your weapon with. Early on vigor is your best friends if youve gotten your minimum requirements whereas smithing stones will be most important if you want good damage. Unless you never get hit anyway of course.

He does stay to deal at least one to two hits of damage if Radahn is already close when he spawns in, so it is possible for you to set it up that Patches deals the final hit to Radahn.
He will actually help and fight radahn if u rise agaist the erd tree. Edit:looked it up later, and found out that patches dose not help u fight even if u do the side quest... i dont know where i got this info but its wrong. Any way go play elden ring.
His funniest rofl is when he seems to be dying and give us a castanets with plea to give it to Tanith in Volcano Manor just to make us feel like a fool) Even the grave won't change this guy!
@@koalachan6029 he actually doesn't. unless it's tied to having beaten certain invasions there, even if you join the recusants, he still leaves. i fought radahn after making it to the plateau and joining them, and he still left my radahn fight when i summoned him
It's funny because I summoned him, and when it said "Patches left" I was like "damn, patches died already" then I found out he just dips, it made it so much better lmao
Honestly tho as someone who has played dark souls 1 when it first came out it feels really great to see patches. Patches is like a little brother who's an ass but you love him
The best way I can describe him is the lovable bastard, I grew up with souls games and he was normally up there for my favorite character because as you said he’s like a brother to me
@@nirmiak9906 honestly, Elden ring has my favorite cast of npc’s out of the whole souls series. It’s just a shame that the hub gets more empty as the story progresses

I never kill patches, he is always useful. Whether it's negating fall-damage, pointing out important mechanisms and traps, or just being a generally decent merchant.
Patches characterization in elden ring is so consistent. My favorite is him telling you that the mech in the academy will take you to the erdtree, but it instead takes you to the middle of an active volcano
An Abductor Virgin, rather. Technically he isn't lying at all in that respects- Mt. Gelmir is in fact sitting on top of the Altus Plateau, which is known in setting as _the_ land of the Erdtree. It's just... well, quite a ways off. Easy to chalk it up to Patches lying by omission but, given the canonical first meeting you two have is you (accidentally) legit stealing stuff from his home and him trying to defend it (and his general less asshole characterization this time around) I can imagine he just didn't know the specifics.
He tell you a story about ironmaiden and how they have some ancient teleport magic. But the part to take you directly to the tree is a fking troll moment.

If he did not know it would transport you he probably hoped it just straight up killed you itself
The coolest part is even with 2 friends summoned you can still summon all these other people. But regardless of the odds, Patches be like "We homies but we ain't that kinda homies, peace"

Patches will forever and always hold a special place in this communities heart. A FromSoft game just doesn't have the same effect until you get used to this sneaky church hating pile of betrayal.
Can we just admit that summoning during radahns fight is unironically more than justified and shouldn't be fucking fought over like its some sort of creative mode toggle
It feels right to summon, this is a festival to give radahna warrior’s death, the fact that you have brought an entire party to kill him would make him proud I feel
I was caught off guard by his sign being in that fight, my friends were also caught off guard by my surprise. I summoned him towards the end and he ended up surviving along with Blaidd and the Holy person
