Love these series and seeing Brian featuring a lot more in them. Great job! The only thing that would make it better is if you brought some examples of the watches you’re discussing. I would have loved to have seen the 5230 make an appearance!

Omega and Rolex have proven that the stainless steel annual calendar is a hit! Patek entering this space and starting to dilute it’s nautilus and aquanaut production is genius. They will only increase the hype on these families since they will be diluting production, and they will push forward with pieces more representative of the brand’s heritage, which for someone like me, who actually isn’t really a fan of the design of the Nautilus or aquanaut, but is a HUGE Patek fan, just waiting for the chance to own a calendar watch of theirs, is an absolute godsend

love these episodes talking about Patek Philippe! I've wanted my first Patek to be an annual calendar and learning all this information just makes me want it more🤞🏼that I get "the call" this year.

I gave you a thumbs-up on this one but it was disappointing because there was no mention of the PP Annual Calendar that I have: the 5205g-013 or any 5205 for that matter. I have felt that this one is the prettiest of their offerings in the category and the case is as modern as any out there.

Great conversation. Interesting views on a significant shift away from traditional calendars towards modern. Personally stuck in my ways on traditional styles, and whilst not so convenient for the modern day, I’m struggling to find attachment to the new styles such as 5326.

I love my 5212A - it is easily the finest watch I ever owned. But I think Brian is completely out to lunch to talk about any of these watches being able to 'take a beating', etc. I quite recently learned from bitter firsthand experience what happens if a modern Patek from the complications range receives even a moderate shock of the kind that can easily happen in daily life. (Basically the watch is away for between a quarter and a third of a year, and the bill, as quoted, will come to roughly as much as the cost of a brand new Tudor - a watch which really could 'take a beating' :-0)

The 4947 in Steel, with the unique blue shantung dial, moonphase…total sleeper that doesn’t get enough attention

Absolutely, I much prefer the annual to a perpetual - for sure, not such a grand complication, but easy to reset, cheaper to service and on balance, more practical. Peoples' perpetuals are always tell the wrong date, so what's the point?! The 5146 is such a great watch - traditional style, but day-to-day tough and a modern size.

Tim, you mentioned VC annual calendar at 1:28… I was at a VC boutique recently and saw their offering and asked to see the annual calendar complication and the salesperson informed me that VC hasn’t/does’t make annual calendars since it was invented by PP…true?

Set design, we need a word. Brian's trousers being the same colour as his char, it looks like he has fake legs, or wearing a novelty chair outfit from the fancy-dress shop. In fact, the only thing that could make him look more like a desperate last-minute rental before a fancy-dress party is if we was wearing a bright orange Chinese hat. Oh, wait ...

I like Brian, but I have to say I have to say, hearing him talk about Patek watches being able to "take a beating" seems pretty damn insane! I own a 5212A which I wore regularly for about a year. Then the evil day came when it slipped out of my hands while I was taking it off, and fell about 3 feet onto a soft carpet. Boom! 1300 GBP for service repair, baby! (Not to mention the watch being away for 3-4 months. The UK Patek Service Centre sent it straight back to the elite squad in Geneva, apparently.) Yes, it's a beautiful watch. Yes, I am in love with it. But these emphatically are NOT watches which are engineered to take a beating, resist shocks, high vibration, etc. I now question whether it is even really fit for everyday wear by anyone other than somebody who has a very sedentary lifestyle? :-(

You can thank the Rolex Hulk for the green dial trend. Sure Patek is going more contemporary but on a limited production run within an overall limited production per year. Patek doesn’t cater to young clients/collectors. They still cater to older clients. What they are doing is offering sporty color dials for clients that already own traditional Patek design references. Young people are not buying Patek like you guys claim they are. It more young collectors with money.

BG uses two different pronunciations of “Patek” in his first sentence … sigh.
