@waleed8530
@waleed8530 9 лет назад
Kevin Triolo show me rappers nowadays who are intelligent and talented? the art of hip-hop/rap went downhill since the old legends are gone. currently it's 24/7 about sex/weed and drugs/getting money ... over and over again with their auto-tune machines. what makes it worse despite the poor repetitive message they deliver is the way they speak is totally gibberish. sad to see the art of high-end watch is ruined by those. slapping diamonds on watches won't make them intelligent and talented.

I can't believe she mentioned the apple watch. You can't compare that fad to a highly precise piece of art.
@deathcoder
@deathcoder 7 лет назад
Depends on your definition of precise. Time wise, the Apple Watch is leap and bounds more precise than any mechanical watch. She did not compare the Apple watch to a Patek Philippe, this is bloomberg TV. She was speaking fro the business perspective and they guy answered well. Actually thanks to Apple, many young people are wearing watches on their wrists again! So if anything, that will help all the watchmakers to become relevant again. I didn't wear a watch for the longest time.

Insanity has a limit, but this? This is beyond insanity. Do these people even realize how many kids sleep at night with anything to eat everyday? Sad and disturbing.
@sanjursan
@sanjursan 7 лет назад
Julius K. I cannot agree. Go to any great museum and you will see comparable art from many eras of human history. Are you saying that this current era should be denied of being represented? Also, did you not notice the number of skilled and dedicated craftsmen and engineers and technicians that were employed to construct this fine work if art? If we take money and send it to the poor this week, then who will feed them next week? I understand that it is silly to try to make watchmakers of the world's poor. But it is just as silly to claim that we must choose between art and charity.
@GXPedition460
@GXPedition460 7 лет назад
sanjursan if this Watch is for exhibition then I understand. But no this is gonna get sold. Someone with tons of money will buy this and brag about it over their casual dinner. If it's a collection than it should not have a true value. I'm not denying that this is a masterpiece but I'm saying that this amount of money can help a lot of poor people around the world. If all the richest people ever decide to help generously then we will not have these poverties. But they don't and they won't... cause they have to buy these toys. I never make enough money for me and my family but trust me I never make too little to help the poor.

At the end it still comes down to money. The reason why they are not selling this to some guy with like only 50 mill in the bank is that they can sell it to someone with couple of billion in the bank - to someone who allready has bought multiple very expensive other models and who keeps buying other very expensive models to be able to get he's hands on rare models like this one. This is something what the guy with the 50 million would not do. So to put it simply for every super rare model they sell, they sell a lot of other models. So what they basically do with that policy is that they play on superrich people egos where even though lot of motherfuckers in the world could afford it pricewise they just aren't allowed to buy it because they are not considered worthy - but he's special, he's the chosen one. The whole point - they don't give a fuck if they sell it to some asshole oil sheik who just wants this one because its the most something and cannot appreciate the craftsmanship - as long as he also buys like 5 million worth of other models also.

It is mostly mechanical but has smart watch features to notify you of a notification with subtle info like lights and vibration and sound. Putting aside the interview and how it went. How does such an 'interview' with a potential buyer, hopefully, end up with a 'mutual agreement' IF a person with enough cash wishes to buy it? One could say that it puts the watch in its 'proper place' which, in essence, would mean that it isn't only exclusive, its also very selective in who can own one. Why can't a person with enough disposable income purchase it for it's beauty AND it's potential as an investment? Is this the way it should be? BTW ... I pose questions, not an opinions.

this is the oldest tactic in the book. create some hype over a watch. consumers will start salivating over being on the 'guestlist'. if your name is not down, you aint coming in scenario. the laws of demand will determine the price. im sure if 5 people got interviewed and all were prepared to pay an extra 3mill on top of the price, it will go to the highest 'bidder'. Patek will thus choose the highest price. So the interview process is just a marketing tool like he said to pump up interest.

This is BULLSHIT!!! Ferrari wants you to go through the same procedures in order to purchase their cars. And, now, Ford (who likes to follow Ferrari) also wants you to beg (on top of spending your money) in order to own a new Ford GT.

lol. Ford has never followed bitch-ass Ferrari. Ferrari is STILL butt hurt about the original GT destroying it's 2-stepping glue-stick on legs at LeMans after Ferrari, like the fragile egomaniac he was, reneged on the sale of the company. To show the world what a bitch Ferrari is, Ford proceeded to rape Ferrari on the track.

simpsonfan13 Personally, I think Ferrari is overrated (although that may not have necessarily been the case in past years). But their cars have fallen behind the competition in terms of performance. And the company has seem to lose its design touch, also. I don't like most of the designs they are producing these days. But, Ford is in fact following Ferrari!

Imagine if you dropped it 4 feet onto a marble floor. Oh the sheer horror. I like G-Shock watches but hey, Bill and Warren buy these for absolutely different reasons. And that would be exclusivity, respect, history, tradition, glamour, and European heritage.

2.6 million divide by 100000hrs equal $26 per hour labour. Not bad value for money...

Yeah it takes a while to make those high end watches. He LIED when he says he doesn't make money on the million dollar ones. They're VERY complicated but not so much that he doesn't make SERIOUS dough.
