YAAAAAS!! I’m pumped for this series of videos, PortSwigger is a must have if you’re wanting to learn. I feel like it’s way under utilised by professionals trying to get into the industry, thank you for tackling this gap in knowledge 🙌
YES indeed, Nic! Portswigger Web Academy is such a great resource and it is FREE! Looking forward to releasing more walkthroughs for the Apprentice track 👍
Thank you for doing this video. I just started my learning journey on cybersecurity just a few days back and just mainly did embracing my noobiness. LOL Well, I mean I did researching on where to start. That's how I found Portswigger and then eventually arrived at your RU-vid channel (GOOD STUFF!). BTW, on the last part where you need to see the content of /etc/passwd. You can view it by opening the URL (the one you edited) in a new tab and do a "Save page as". Save it as a text file and there you go you can view the goodies with just a text editor. Excuse my English. Not my native language. xD
Hey @Mechsas, thanks for watching and I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying my channel! I really appreciate your description of saving to disk to view the /etc/passwd file. I get so conditioned to rely on tools like Burp, that it can be very easy to get tunnel vision and forget about alternative methods. You should do a blog write-up for each lab. It will help you solidify your knowledge and would be a great resource for other learners! Cheers
did not realize that this video is # 1 in this Port Swigger series, it would be helpful if you numbered them or appended each video to playlist. // Great video !
Thanks for watching, zdax! I didn't think to number them, but there is a Playlist which you can access here >>> ru-vid.com/group/PLtZSO0mhEgPxLb01jsVKhppOHtz9ZWMdS&si=uN2aeyf6XUtHL9at
At the end of the challenge PS says that we must open the file. Does that password really exist or do we have to settle for the preview of a non-existent image?
Great question, Joset! I thought the same thing myself, so I made this video which shows you how to view the contents of the "/etc/passwd" file using Burp Suite. >>> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LFBs-UpZmfU.htmlsi=77IkClDX2xhk1dj8
I've been a busy bee and just haven't had any motivation honestly. But I went to Wild West Hackin' Fest last week and was able to hang out with a lot of my RU-vid friends which put a burr in my saddle to get back at it!
@@daniellowrie good to see you anyways everyone loses some motivation at different things and it takes a gentle push to bring them back into it again I think
Please aim to create videos that are packed with value. This video is certainly good 💙, but I felt you got a bit sidetracked instead of staying focused on the topic. It seemed like you were more concerned with how entertaining the video would be and showcasing your humor rather than addressing the main subject.
