Sid's initial plan to shot Pathaan was mostly in real locations (and they did) during the scripting stage. But covid happened and thus came a lot of restrictions. After some point in time countries again reopened for filming but they would only allow a limited number of crew. And thus the decision was taken to shot the film using 'VFX plates'. So basically they actually shot all the action scenes shown in the film in Real locations from Dubai to Russia to Turkey (train sequence but they showed it happened in Russia) but with a limited set of people and stunt doubles. Because actors bring a team with themselves too and they wanted to keep a small crew. So all action and stunt you see in the film was actually done (well most of it) to capture in the VFX plates which was later used in green screens. Except the jet pack sequence which was CGI. Pathaan is the first Indian film to use VFX plates. This technology is vastly used in Fast and Bond movies where they shoot the same scene both in real locations and on green screens. Guys they really shot some sequences and stunts in that frozen lake...but that real location was remade by the VFX team for the rest of the complicated activities happening there... Thus there is a good mix of real locations and vfx in Pathaan... But many glimpses in this vfx breakdown video did surprised me also!!

I hope YRF get better at VFX because we need more Indian VFX companies which provide world class VFX like Red Chillies VFX

I believe that the VFX is Fan and Zero was way better than in Pathaan. It wasn't bad, the VFX in Pathaan was good but in comparison, it does not hold its ground against Zero and Fan

Idk why but I do think that the action cinematography job done before the helicopter shows up in the srk face reveal scene was not done by YFX!!! Maybe that's why it looks so realistic and freaking awesome at the same time & maybe that is the reason they didn't included it in the breakdown video :)

If the vfx was done by SRK's company, Pathaan would be more 'gempak' in my language 😁 SRK is back on the big screen after a long time nd Pathaan hit 1000cr really makes me happy. The most successful movie of 2023 so far.

vfx on moving vehicle scenes was terrible....jon n srk fight scene and salman srk on train was really bad...it just hurt the movie watching experience...you are just not into it anymore.
