Psychic is an interesting class, but I've got to mention that it's probably the best class to multiclass into (in my opinion). It might not seem strong at a first glance, since multiclassing into it just gives you a single cantrip, but it also technically gives you a focus spell as well, since you can amp it, so with a single multiclass feat you get a cantrip and a focus spell, which is pretty great, especially after the remaster's refocus changes.
January 28: I have a Pathfinder session with my friends and I am GM. One friend wants to be the psychic class, so I tell him to watch the kingoogatonton video on it, because none of us knew how the class worked but I was sure you had a video on it. My friend checks: no psychic video. man, how could I misremember that? Next day: this video comes out. You read my mind.
Some day I have to build a Psychic (Oscillating Wave and Precise Discipline) who's just a physicist and got his powers by studying thermodynamics real hard. Great video as always!
This is honestly the most underrated Pathfinder 2e channel. These videos are very clear and concise while being short. Which makes it a great tool to brush up on classes as a DM, player, or help someone understand a class better when they don't seem to fully understand the class.
That... was confusing lol. Pretty sure I got it, though, and it sounds like quite the class. If I ever get to play, I might be one (although I'm still leaning Inventor, Thaumaturge, or Champion...)
There's definitely a lot going on with Psychics. Two different subclasses, enhanced versions of regular cantrips, revamped Focus Spell rules, and a unique action. Much to learn!
pretty good video but i think there is a slight error at 3:43 psychics will now have 3 focus points at the beginning because the remaster rules give you points equal to your focus spells
You're actually wrong. The simple reason being that Psychic's psi cantrips don't count as focus spells, they're cantrips. So, the usual focus spell rules don't apply to them, instead they follow their own special rules, which state Psychics start with 2 focus points (under the Psi Cantrips and Amps section in the Psychic class features).
Gosh this class feels unnecessarily complicated. My mind just melted. Does it play any better? I feel like this class would have benefited if it followed the kineticist model and removed the non-psychic spell casting element. Great vid as always!
It's an extremely simple class. It's a cantrip focused caster that can spend focus points to make them better and go into a rage to bump up the damage of their spells.
It's a sorcerer but bloodline spells are cantrips they can power up with focus points and they temporarily get a stronger version of the "dangerous sorcery" feat as a rage-like ability, at the cost of less spell slots.
Psychic is one of my favourite classes. Amps are super fun and give it a lot of attrition in each combat, but you still get a few standard spells for your big booms when you need them. Psychic flavour is also just delicious 🤌 love me a psychic in my RPGs. Also also I love how oscillating wave is basically thermodynamics: the subclass.
