Hi Everyone.
This is the second in a series of video segments where I have featured some aspect of the design and construction where I have gone outside the normal plans.
In the first video I looked at the cuddy so in this one iv'e moved aft a bit to take a look at the central section of the boat and specifically the asymmetric layout and especially the off centre 'centerboard'.
As I explain in the video this isn't part of John Welsford's standard plans for the boat but it does draw heavily from his more recent designs : SCAMP and Long Steps. It also draws a bit on some of the late Phil Bolger's designs where he often used an asymmetric layout for his centerboards and daggerboards.
When I was thinking about this part of the boat I did originally consider using leeboards as i'm familiar with them from east coast barges and on Dutch working boats - I didn't go that way in the end partially because the Pathfinder's designer , John Welsford, doesn't seem to like them.
I still have work to do in this part of the boat - for instance that the large compartment isn't finished, fitted with hatches and closed - this is due to not having the funds available to buy the large AGM battery of around 200 Ah which will form the main fixed ballast.
At some time in the future I intend to make a canopy/sprayhood for this part of the boat to give me more shelter on long passages.
In the next video segment I intend to either move aft again and take a look at the cockpit and stern deck and/or start to show details of the general stowage.
Once again , thanks for watching and best wishes Y'awl.

Thank's for taking the time to Share Steven, I enjoy following your build and progress. I may pick up a couple of ideas from you along the way. You're doing a good job with you videography, keep it up cheers to you.

Like the music -- you're getting good at the editing lark as well as building boats!

Thanks Steve , I kind-of made the decision to have a more concerted effort with the whole thing - a lot comes down to the sound and the editing - neither of which I used to be any good at but iv'e since learnt some new tricks and techniques.
