I have copd, and I wondered if there was a direct relationship between the results of a spirometer test, and how breathless you are on your worst days. Brilliantly explained video, thank you so much.

I been living with Asthma COPD for 7 years, its very similar to the one called Enphazema and bronchitis, but COPD basically means lung damage, and if you have Asthma it goes through all the same stages, it is really a delight that this knowledge and information is out here and especially on RU-vid. Thanks!

Thank you so much for explaining this. My partial diagnosis is COPD, yet I find that in the summer, with sufficient moderate exercise my symptoms largely disappear. I use Albuterole and Asmanex. The symptoms I have do not include throat constriction, just excessive coughing. Now I understand the etiology of my condition much better.

Excellent work. The cilia is definitely key and most forget to mention that even focusing on the lung function thereby showing their lean towards pharmacology technology rather than biological function. Except that they also know some people go bald, sweat less or not at all, loose cilia, and other factors such as Alpha-1 genetically are related as well it seems like. I'm not a Dr. but everyone I know that has has COPD has a complex mixture of many of these factors indicating a definite genetic predisposition. Thank you for that word about Fibrosis too.

Andrew, I'm a COPD Patient of 3yrs now and I thought I was pretty well versed on my disease but I learned so much from your discussion, Thanks! My ? is the following: My blood count sometimes gets as high as 27. Is this due to the Hypoxemia? Is it trying to compensate for the Co2 poisoning, or just trying to get more oxygenated blood to circulate? I get it pulled once a month to keep it in ck. Trying to get a better understanding. Andrew, great video. Very informative and easy to understand. I have been recently diagnosed with COPD from a chest X-ray in which my diagram appeared flattened. I have not had follow up breathing capacity testing yet but will soon. I have never smoked or had exposure to chemical pollutants. You referred often to the explanation of causation due to smoking - what is your knowledge of those in my situation who were not smokers or had the pollutant exposure? I have no cough or breathlessness.

Thank you very much for the video. I found it very informative and appreciate it. This may be out of your area of expertise but just wondered if there is not a way to clear some of that mucus out of your lungs so it does not restrict air movement to the smaller airways? I remember quitting smoking years ago and recall coughing up a significant amount of mucus for quite some time after quitring and it seemed my breathing improved afterwards.
