Real painters would paint that rust on. The last thing you want is real rust it is very destructive. It is an interesting process to be able to make metal rust but I can't think of any situation where you would actually want that. I painted sets in Hollywood for many years and we were able to make rust that looked more real or at least more like you would want it to look like and that way everything is painted. I have painted taxi's police cars. the truck for the tv show fall guy Ferrari's Lamborghini's , space ships including the Starship Enterprise army tanks a battleship and many others. I would not want real rust on any of them. I'm not trying to make you made or criticize you but just being real. Keep trying.
Hi Dan, You don't have to use cutting/polishing compound in particular but it doesn't leave a residue that can't be painted over. You just have to be careful to stay away from any product that may have an element of silicon in it. Thanks
Nice video, thanks! Some questions_ is there any way to prevent further rusting? Can you apply rust converter (could make some nice black spots)? Can you "lock" it in with some matte clear coat or something?
