Its about her relationship with her husband (who is also a country star) and the demise of that relationship.. It's 5 and a half songs, crating full story. After their (very public) divorce, he made a song about "When was it over for you" and she responded. The whole EP is her admitting both their mistakes - she thought she wanted something, but realized that was not it and he did not (want to) listen. Their relationship slowly died becase they wanted different things. While she responds, she also mourns what could have been and wishes him his happy ending and for herself the strenght to be true to herself in the future. “It’s hard to reconcile(the last song) with the rest of it”- this whole EP is literally the 5 stages of grief? Its pretty obvious. Yes- she really means it.

Most of the songs seem to be directed at her ex after he released a song before their divorce was finalized. The last one is when she has started to heal from everything. Why does it have to be disingenuous to feel both of those things?

she’s allowed to have multiple different kinds of feelings about her divorce. what a weird comment to make saying she’s not being genuine. she did an entire podcast about how she doesn’t blame him. they grew apart. you can stop being in love with someone and still have love for them while also feeling hurt by things that occurred.
