I despise Opie as much as the next man but even I didn't realize just how little value he actually contributed. It's mind blowing

It's not just how little Opie contributed, but also how much he detracted from the chemistry and rhythm of the talent in the room by constantly opening his big mouth and taking calls and breaks at the worst times. He was a double negative. Opie never accepted that he was just another talentless radio hack who got incredibly lucky and rode on his partners coattails to fame and fortune. He saw his face on billboards and the sides of buses in NYC and delusionally believed their success had something to do with him. As JV & Elvis told him on air "You're nothing more than a glorified Board Op. You've never said a funny thing in your life".
