In all of my years on this earth, the best thing i could have ever ran across was all these episodes of Patrice O'neal on O and A. I was a fan when he was living but i became an even bigger fan after his death. I remember a friend of mines describing one of his earlier comedy specials where he had the joke about cereal manufacturing companies getting attacked by terrorists and Tony the Tiger saying "it's not great". I jave haf a lot of good laughs in life. No one has ever made tears come to my eyes more consistently than Patrice. Just a funny muhfucka. Also, changed my life when it comes to women. Damn it feels good to know "I'M BETTER THAN YOU!!!" RIP Pimp Juice

There is not a single circumstance under which Opie should have told Patrice to "Hold on". Not a single one. Even if the studio was on fire. Opie's best contribution to the show has always been his rarely-exercised silence.
Patrice wasnt a comedian, the man was a philosopher. I can't count how many of these shows I've re-listened to. He articulated things I always abstractly thought but didn't put together yet, can't wait for next years benefit

He at one point said “wait hold on hold on…ant is right”. He interrupted rudely just to agree with someone. It bugs me so much I sometimes take myself out of the show and listen more to when Anthony is hanging in the background and throwing stuff in sparingly or Patrice or anyone on the show. Nobody forces their way into the argument or shuts someone down so they can start talking before they are finished
I think Patreeky has a very good point in this video: the only way to be cool when you're uncool is to know you're uncool and not try to be cool. In other words, just be who you are, even if you are "uncool", and you'll actually be cool.

you know what? fuckin everybody says their shit about Opie. but you fuckin know what? these weren't the same Opie days. go back and actually listen to episodes like this one, and recognize how Opie is the one driving at least half of where Patrice is going, leading him into the bits that we love Patrice for. but it was Opie who popped most of the questions and introduced the scenarios while Ant just sat back and laughed. don't get me wrong, a lot of things obviously changed, but Patrice actually responds to Opie (in a lot of ways) more than he's responding to Ant. you know, just for the record and all....

I've been thinking about that. I don't think Patrice was as predictable as we'd like to think. He was big into conspiracy theories. Im really not sure what he'd have to say, or what he'd believe. I'd like to think if he was still alive, he's be on the side of truth and reason. But I don't know....

This was an episode where Opie was good and collaborative. I've bashed him plenty but he did well here, especially when Ant was reminiscing and telling Patrice about his marriage and how it all went to shit.
I was thinking the exact same thing, I normally loathe when Opie talks but he was decent this episode and I like how he was willing to open his mind on the topic of being friends with exs friends. That seemed really genuine
