Patricia Majalisa will forever be associated with Dan Tshanda's band, Splash. She was born in Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape, and when she arrived in Johannesburg she joined Splash as a backing vocalist on their 1986 album Peacock. The producer of Peacock, Hamilton Nzimande, realised the potential in Patricia and pushed for her to embark on a solo career. Nzimande produced her debut album Cool Down, which was backed by Splash.
Patricia released several successful albums in the mid-to late 80s, all of which were backed by Dan Tshanda's stable band, the Dalom Kids. Towards the close of the decade, she worked on the album Dzhengenzhe, which was released in 1990 on Gallo label, from which Uwee was a successful single. Patricia's disco style was the answer to township Majita style called Pantsula, which earned her the nickname Mshoza...a female version of a Pantsula.
