The song i chose personally after my father's funeral last year. A poignant beautiful passionate song. Just like my dear father Mr. Eugene Owen O' Connell. A strong, passionate, big hearted man.
Thank you for posting that. Now I know for sure he was happy with her performance. The original composition was by Sean O'Riada, as you likely already know well.
What do you get when the soul remembers what was long forgotten.....THIS! Because it is forgotten the brain can't go there but the heart can, the sound leads the way. Unbearably beautiful. Thank you Sibéal
Sorry mate, but Eurovision is a political thing, it has nothing to do with good songs. It's better not to soil gems like this with stench of corruption a "Eurovision" brings.
Eurovision has been kidnapped and it is now the stage for the communist agenda we have upon us. The rubbish festival aims to destroy the national sentiment and make public feel repulsive towards what their nation means. So, stop watching it! Hope this explains clearly why this beauty is not aired on equally kidnapped national broadcaster. BOYCOTT!
@@FROFilmsIRE No, the lyrics are a poem by Patrick Pearse written in 1912. The music was composed by Patrick Cassidy in 2016 for a PBS special to commerate the 1916 Easter rising against British rule in Ireland.
Your voice is amazing. It captures the native language like a magnet. The video appeals to the younger generation and I hope it does to rejuvenate the language... Good luck and I hope you blossom 🍀
The last song that I would hear would be this and this played at my funeral. This shows how we were in love with our country and how we were torn to pieces and built back up. From anger to peace, from war to neutral.
Eurovison rubbish has other goals rather than rise up national sentiment, quite the opposite, clearly! Exactly make public feel repulsive with anything related or reprinting the nation, which is part of the destructive agenda.
This gives me goosebumps Sibéal, you have one amazing voice, we Irish are all so proud of you girl, you're a treasure to behold, pity we have to share you at all ❤️🇮🇪 Xx
Poem written by Irish martyr Padraig Pearse. Mise Éire: Sine mé ná an Chailleach Bhéarra Mór mo ghlóir: Mé a rug Cú Chulainn cróga. Mór mo náir: Mo chlann féin a dhíol a máthair. Mór mo phian: Bithnaimhde do mo shíorchiapadh. Mór mo bhrón: D'éag an dream inar chuireas dóchas. Mise Éire: Uaigní mé ná an Chailleach Bhéarra. I am Ireland: I am older than the Hag of Beara. Great my glory: I who bore brave Cú Chulainn. Great my shame: My own children that sold their mother. Great my pain: My irreconcilable enemies who harass me continually. Great my sorrow: That crowd, in whom I placed my trust, decayed. I am Ireland: I am lonelier than the Hag of Beara.
I'm African-American and German but this song makes me want to study and learn the Irish language! There is so much power yet sad tragic beauty behind the words of this poem and hearing it adapted to music only makes it even more powerful.
I kinda agree, but it is so epic, that I feel like the piece would befit a great leader or well beloved humanitarian, etc., not for someone as insignificant as myself.
@GR Liverpool in Carrickfergus? Wow! It’s a song very close to my heart. My Dad played it on the accordion to my Grandad (a Kerryman) as we said goodbye for the final time at his funeral. He used to love listening to my Dad play all the good old Irish tunes ☘️. If we’d held up well throughout the service, we all absolutely lost it at that point!
It's about the Goddess of Ireland called Eire in mythology (eire is her name Ireland is named after her :) basically the song is about her older then the cliffs who gave birth to mighty warriors, loved, been forgotten, abandoned left to decay and sold out by the nation. :)
Mesmerising, absolutely everything about this is stunning, well done to all involved. As good an advertisement for all the talent and beauty Ireland has to offer as you will ever see. Go h-Íontach💚

She's not trashy enough, not tweaking, she's absolute class embodied 👌. Too good for those generation. I hope if we share enough though....People will open their hearts to Gaelige and her stunning voice.
@@irishcountrygirl78 This woman probaly has more followers than utube admits and her music more than likely got more views .. I definitely wouldn't trust utube to tell the truth about anything like that or anything att all .. Munk E tube I call it
I sing!, for you give me voice. Those fields, I have walked. Trod the grass that grows. Ne'er higher than you stand, Thy word are my Command. I write again, again. In hopes you take heed of my pen. I can sing, I can walk, I CAN FLY. But only when you are nigh. Mountains low; valleys high; Up is down when I see your eye. No rhyme may tell of what thou art; You are, assuredly, my greatest: Muse.
I keep coming back to the channel and I won’t stop to see if you posted anything recent. Not sure if it’s an issue with who you as label or if you independent. Please go on Eurovision with a beautiful Irish song. Sam rider did so well out of it and I feel like you have so much to offer. I know it used to be a joke but it’s coming BACCKKK GAL. Fuck me, I sound old as shit… I’m and no one knows the Irish language and it’s stunning. I grew up in England. My mum lived in Dublin and moved here after being in mother and baby homes and now all English family. I decided to learn the language because I thought it beautiful and I’d hate it to disappear. There is so much Irish history that needs to be known
