I don't like how Patrick's character is put across as needy and indecisive in this show. I cried for him. He never gets someone to love him the way he loves them
Don't think he's indecisive and I don't think he's ever been portrayed that way. He's presented as someone who's desperate for love who would take it from anyone willing to give it.
When you cross all boundaries because of someone, when you stop partying and sit at home alone with a bottle of beer and watch a game, when your eyes say a thousand words, when chemistry bursts .... I think Cruz has proven to be a better choice for Patrick .. .Because Patric needs a mature person who will support him and who will always be with him. Cruz immediately penetrated the depths of Patric's soul, I think he admires Patric in a way because he can freely show who he is and what he is. Along with Patrick, Cruz has matured. Cruz slept with Patrick even though he knew he was his son's friend ( and someone he had feelings for ), and did everything he could to make Ivan choose Ari over Patrick. He treated Patrick like air after they kissed, he was not ready to tell anyone about the fact that he might be gay ( or bi). He didn't treat him any better than Ivan did. Ivan told Patrick that they wouldn't be a couple because he's not gay, but they could still be friends. Nevertheless, his feelings for Patrick were strong enough that he told his father about his feelings. I know he hurt Patrick by meeting Ari, but let's look at it from his perspective - Ari was the person he loved before Patrick, the girl

Cruz has so much chemistry with Patrick and comfortable enough in his own sexuality to make his grown-man kisses both believable and hot ... open mouth. And that not-shy tongue. Lol. He's so hot, it's easy to see why Patrick hooks up with him - never mind the age gap and his being Ivan's father. To be fair, if Ivan had not rejected and hurt Patrick so many times, hooking up with his sister while playing around with his I'm-into-you-but-I'm-really-straight games, Patrick would not have hooked up with Cruz.

I know it seems way sexier due to the age difference and intensity but it is just sex. I won't even call Ivan patrick fine because they were toxic too. But they had their development from the start, and Ivan was reluctant to face it. It bloomed like a flower 🌸 their bond.
He's attracted to Patrick ... who wouldn't ... but he's very aware it's only physical and can't lead anywhere. And he knows Patrick has fallen hard for Ivan ... only Ivan is not yet ready to face his bisexuality. I think at first Cruz believed - or wanted to believe that Ivan was more into Ira ... partly because Ivan himself said she turned his "world upside down", but it became clear Ivan had feelings for Patrick. For sure, Cruz knew Patrick was in love with Ivan. I think because Cruz had spent so many years in denial about his sexuality, he recognized Ivan's struggles. And you're right ... accepting his sexuality meant he no longer felt he had to aggressively prove his "hetero creds" with all the drug-filled partying and being so promiscuous. He became the father he should have always been to Ivan. But it's good to see they still have a great relationship ... unlike all the other kids, including Patrick and his sisters.
i aint gone cap they did have some good chemistry and definitely had a connection & it showed plenty of times. to me i liked patrick with both of them and i didnt really matter which one he chose for me -like when he was about to go cruzs room but ivan showed up -they opened up to each other -he basically offered himself an arm for patrick to lean on whenever he needed

When I was watching it, right in the scene that Cruz comes next to Patrick to talk to him at the lake, I was like "could they have something?" Yes, there's an age difference, but it's not like Cruz is decrepit or anything. I believe the character is in his late 30s and in pretty good shape given his sports profession. That would make for many more years of energetic encounters in the bedroom. 😏 Since he's moved on from Patrick, I hope he finds someone next season.
I think these are the ones for whom it is worth watching and re-watching this series. Cruz, who always loved, cared and paid attention much better than Ivan, who still couldn’t make up his mind. It's very sad that Patrick made such a choice, after Cruz's death I stopped watching...
