The music video was about a girl and boy at the club who had feelings for each other. It was clear that they had a relationship with each other. The young man was toying with the girl's emotions by kissing another girl in the club. And the Life after love part was, she was either going to jump off the roof from the pain of seeing her ex-boyfriend kissing another girl. But one can assume that this wasn't the first time the young man had been playing with her emotions. . So, she chose her life and decided that at that moment the boy wasn't worth it anymore to the point of taking her own life by jumping off the roof. That's why Cher stayed up on the roof happy that the girl didn't jump. Sometimes people are in love and there is a problem they are so emotionally wrecked they want to commit suicide. And the girl realised at that moment up on the roof that the boy wasn't worth it anymore to go through the trauma of a breakup with him. She chose life after love. The love she had for the boy disappeared and broke her emotional ties to him. She let him go and thought that she was more important to have her own life rather than give it up for somebody who really didn't care for her. That song was impressionable to youth who committed suicide over relationship problems which is a very real problem today. On the other side, many young men struggle with breakups in their relationships they commit suicide too. I've been to many funerals by young men committing suicide due to failed relationship problems who are too afraid to open and get help. And it leaves their family in pieces. That was the message of the song and video aimed towards young people.
That unique 'synthesizer' quality to some parts of Cher's vocals were achieved through the deliberate use of Autotune. I'm on the fence as to whether I like it or not; but the song is undeniably catchy!

This is hilarious and you didn’t even notice. It’s not the song I love Cher and this song to pieces. In fact she sang the song without the effects which I’m sure you know now is auto tune. But not just any auto tune but the very first time it was done. The producer put it on after she left. He didn’t like it and was going to take it off, but called her in to listen anyways. She came in and listen and told her he didn’t like it and was going to take it off. She said no way release it she loved it. But that’s not what what was going on that you didn’t notice. And I looked through all your comments below and none of them noticed. You have two black cats right? Your video screen for Cher was in the left top corner of your square space. One black cat was on the bed waving its tail and moving around to chers music. I don’t know what is above the bed but there was another black cat up there on a shelf or something with its tail moving to the music. Pretty soon the cat on the bed jumped up to the shelf I couldn’t see and now there were two black tails that you couldn’t see their bodies but their tails were waving. I had a cat one time that I could get it to move its tail if I talked soothingly. You must not have edited your video or you might have mentioned it. There’s an artist on you tube with a 7,7 octave range named Dimash Kudaibergen that has a whistle register and he’s a man but dogs and cats both act strange if people have them in the house.
