You know what.. I believe people with real issues will understand when I say this song should be listened to when, literally, having a bad day. Grab your headphones, close the blinds, and just run this on repeat. The beauty of it helps. It really does.

It's just a personal opinion, I think nobody is aiming to solve all the cases of depression in the world with a song. Any way your solution may be valid for some (try helping out someone with depression getting out of the house and run and sing along, kudos to you) and really worthless for others. As the common sense should tell you, we're not all the same.

This song really gave me perspective on coming back from depression. "Don't be afraid just eat up all the grey and it will fade away." I was looking for something to bring me back to how I once was, a way out. Yet there is no great great escape, there is no such thing. At least not in the way you might think. The great escape is a long process, not breif. It could be as simple as putting a smile on your face everyday and appreciating all the things you have

When I was 15, I dealt with an eating disorder and depression. Every time I tried to calm down, I put this song, resting in my bed or walking to school. Not only did it eased me, but it gave me hope and joy. I could actually visualize a future where i was better and, most important, happy. This song _was_ my great escape and it will forever have a special place in my heart.

I used to listen to this on repeat in 2005 after I heard it on Grey's Anatomy. I was 17 and was dealing with bad depression, so this used to soothe me. I can't believe 15 years have gone by. The feeling of peace when I listen to this is still the same though.

Just a year ago I had it all... or at least I thought I did. Chronic illness came into my life suddenly like a thief in the night and the things that brought me joy were taken from me. At 31 years old, I now wonder how long I will have to suffer until I finally die. Psychologically, I am falling apart. Only my faith in the life after keeps me from suicide. This song speaks to me deeply. My great escape is death because this life is just to painful to bear. How long must I wait? I hope and pray none of you have to suffer the despair I have.

I thought I understood the meaning of this song when I first heard it in 2015. I was wrong. This song is what it feels like to live through a global pandemic at the age of 21. So much unknown, so much lonely, so much grey. But I'm taking it day by day and finding escape in the things that I'm passionate about. One day, things will be okay again.
