I do this with guitar, I will have some Drum n bass or such music on and practice sweep picking, music is much more entertaining than a metronome to play to.

C'mon... this one screams for triplets and 6/8 phrasing!!! You missed an opportunity to really stretch out like you did at the end. LOL But I love this. I spend one night a week doing stuff like this with anything from Goth to 80s and 90s synth pop to even hard rock. Helps with timing and is a nice change from using a metronome exclusively, plus it helps you creatively with phrasing if you want to push structures around.
