Thank you for showing off and changing the minds of so many of us with regards to the Pretenders. Before I pretty much hated them altogether and wasn't willing to see any good qualities in them. After watching this series of yours, I can't say I love them to pieces, But I can say that there are many that have some finely detailed shells, accessories, and other aspects that I now can appreciate and enjoy. They are fine toys. Thanks!
You are welcome, I hated them years ago but when I became a more serious collector I looked past their flaws and saw their inner beauty. See what I did there?
The comics really spotlighted some characters from teams and others were purely delegated to the background. Skullgrin, Cloudburst, and Landmine were standouts, the others...cannon fodder.
@@PatriotPrimeReviews Oh, yes. A lot of characters got the cannon fodder treatment. Really goes to show how Hasbro wanted to promote the toys, but once they were discontinued, they just faded into the crowd scenes or got killed in unceremonious ways (both the Underbase Saga and the Unicron battle in 75 really showed tons of characters being wiped out).
Happy Transformers day to you PPR. Thanks again for the final Pretender (Bomb Burst)review - have really enjoyed seeing the figures and learning more about them. I do like that he met a sticky end, especially after eating Soundwave. Cool looking figure and yeah, I dig the Gieger'ish inspired armour. He's probably one of the better looking robots, especially when equipped with null ray looking weapons. So you've given excellent Pretender reviews, who's next, some combiners maybe??? Also very well done on nearly hitting the 1500 mark, you deserve it.
GREAT REVIEW PATRIOT PRIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D I loved seeing the group shot of the G1 Decepticon pretenders. :3 I wanted to ask, do you own G1 Black Shadow/Sky Shadow? I know I will enjoy seeing you review that toy, especially since he is mold mates with Thunderwing. :D Keep up the outstanding work you do, Double Thumb's up. ;D
I really like these retro G1 reviews. You approach them more fairly than some, criticizing what doesnt work but still rating them by the standards of toys at the time they came out, and not fanboying too hard over them either. Makes for a cool retrospective sort of thing on G1.
Great review Patriot Prime. Know hoping to go to a local toy show in September so know adding to my list to look for. Believe have seen before but don't think was complete. Also upon my viewing. Congratulations on 1500 subs.
I still remember buying issue #1 & #2 in a comic multi-pack. I still have every issue. including the 4 issue G.I. Joe crossovers and the three G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes issues that led into the 12 issues of the G2 Transformers comics. Bomb-Burst's Pretender shell kinda looks like a giant Gremlin.
just bought the legacy version and INSTANTLY fell in love with the character to the point where i want to hunt down a G1 figure even as somebody who doesn’t get duplicate characters (still debating if characters who are obviously different but share the same name count)
I'm going to be honest most of the time I don't like the pretender shells. Really the only ones I like are Bludeon and Octopunch. I don't really like the weird space suits on the Autobot ones, and I'm not a fan of the monster ones either. So if I ever do get any Pretenders I probably won't go out of my way to get the shells
