Priceless. Having been seduced by the partimento rage a few years ago, I recently acquired a student Renaissance Lute at the tender age of 65.....I love it, but discovering this channel was a terrific side benefit.
Here's hoping President Macron accepts you as lutenist for hire! I didn't know you were German BTW. I thought you were French for some reason. Anyway, great video as always! Love the playing, love the history, and definitely love the comparison of past France to modern France!
It would have been quite something to see da Ripa and da MIlano in the same room….possibly a duet or a duel?? We can only dream. if you ask me personally Mr. Rippe was the more forward leaning player.
@me:mo: Wow Alberto is such a good composer... damn those tabs look always much easier before you play them... thanks for so beautifully rendering that piece. One thing though I must add: To compare Macron to Fran¢ois I. is at least daring.... Macron is totally the puppet candidate of the banking elite, which is obvious just from reading his CV... I highly doubt that he wants to restore the culture you love so much, that's what Le Pen went for When these banking people take the word "Humanism" into their mouths, they mean: to make everyone equal - equally poor and dependent on the "elite", without such things as "cultural identity", "sovereignty" etc. - maybe you are too young to cynically see though those lies and make broader strokes in the narrative... Even though there probably were puppet kings in the Renaissance (with Fuggers or other rich families as puppet players) they were at least educated. So I doubt Macron will grant you the honor of being his personal lutenist. :)
Most muslims aren't that big a problem, and I always hear about good experiences in Muslim countries. Yet, if they are uprooted from their countries, they tend to embrace Islam too much, with all its cruel laws, furthered by extremist Imams. There should be no refugees in the world, but NATO killed Gaddafi.... Ironically, the ancient origin of the Renaissance Lute may now be its downfall... and ironically the only really good law in Islam is the ban on interest when lending (today: creating) money. I hope all people wake up to the grand scheme and stop fighting each other.

It is interesting that the German mass media praise Macron because they expect him to "implement urgently needed reforms" (DLF on Thursday) like a deregulization of the labour market, reducing aid for the poor, loosening the social net, and cutting public expenses. This does not necessarily mean, however, that this will have effects on state-sponsored culture, because High Culture is also a way for the well-being to distinguish themselves from "la populace". There might still be some place for a "president's lutanist", and that money would definitely be spent better on our lute hero than for military adventures... ;-)

Merci pour ce parallèle très "clin d'œil"... Quelques mois après, la Présidence de Mr Macron n'est plus aussi réjouissante, même si tout n'est pas négatif ! Bravo, vous jouez très bien Albert de Rippe qui n'est pas facile ! Je ne sais pas si Mr Macron, plus cultivé (il n'y a pas de mal ) que ses prédécesseurs s'intéresse à la musique ancienne... Jusqu'à maintenant, je ne l'ai pas vu "Aux Journées du Luth" parisiennes qui ont lieu tous les ans... Peut-être viendra-t-il aux prochaines qui auront lieu les 7 et 8 avril 2018 ? (avec un concert attendu le 7 au soir de Bor Zuljan ... Bienvenu à vous aussi !)
