Patsy was not only a world class talent, but also was known as a mentor to up and coming female singers. She helped Loretta Lynn get her start in Nashville, who went on to become maybe the greatest of her era.
This was the first song Decca Records released after her death. Her recording of Willie Nelson's "Crazy", is her most popular record, and was the most played song on the jukebox of all time. She was a very adept country singer, and of course most revered for her ballads; but she could really let loose, and loved her "red hot mama" country songs.
I've been hard rock/metal head since the early '70s but never have I turned off, or even down, a song by Patsy Cline. one of the most talented singer of the 20th century. Of course, that's just my opinion.
Guys, I was born 1950. I agree with y'all about how elegant things were in 50,s. 60,s & 70,s 👍🔥. I really miss those days. 🥺. Patsy had a gorgeous voice &. She left us way to soon. Thank you guys 🥰🥰
This is one of the best country voices around. Patsy had so many great hits such as "Crazy", "She's Got You", "Walkin' After Midnight", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love" etc. She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams".
Thank you for the review. Wonderful song by a wonderful singer. The other subscribers are right "Crazy" is just a fabulous song you must hear. Thanks again to my favorite music reviewers, you're such a beautiful couple.
Patsy Cline is extraordinary 💜😍 Her voice glides upwards in waves, and breaks & falls, it's just spectacular. I know her through my parents. You must check out her other songs. The very fun, Walking after Midnight; the relateable I fall to Pieces, and the brilliant & very famous CRAZY (written by Willy Nelson & covered by so many people).
Patsy Cline felt every song she sang. She has a cry in her voice. She can sing perfectly while really crying as you heard in this song. I don't know how she does it! Listen to her version of "Faded Love." She'll break your heart by the end of the song!Patsy doesn't give 100%, she gives you 150% of herself all the time. I love it when she lets loose & gives us that growl, yodel & emotions she's known for. There will NEVER be another Patsy Cline!!
I had a crush on Patsy Cline even as a small child, I have always loved her voice, my mum and her friends would sing Patsy Cline and Coney Frances songs and I loved the sound and it was the best time of my life and the happiest.
The movie "Sweet Dreams" 1985 was the story of Patsy Cline, Patsy was played by Jessica Lang it's worth watching. My best friend of 54 years passed in 2021 he loved Patsy Cline and had all her CD's, I hope he's at the concert of the stars in heaven. 😊 Peace ✌️ and Love ❤ Gary 😊
I agree with stpetie I grew up on rock and roll When I finally got around to Patsy and I heard her voice I swear I broke down and cried How could I have been so closed minded She is one of those artists that is her own genre One of a kind
Such a beautiful voice....as many of said, you had to be good in the 50s and 60s to be successful. When you sing live there is no hiding place and the ear does not lie or be manipulated by technology. Patsy Cline was a class act
Sadly Andrei is correct in his observations, music back then was more about feelings and emotions, that element has been removed from newer music of the 21st century. You'd be glad to know, in the mid 80s, Canadian singer k.d. lang brought a resurgence of Patsy's style of country western music of the early 60s. Her band, the Reclines, were dubbed that name in Patsy's honor. Lang's 1st album featured a song "Three Cigarettes in the Ashtray", a Cline staple. k.d's vocal range and delivery are phenomenal, which harkens Patsy Cline's style of singing.
I'm a big Patsy Cline fan ❤️. So was my grandmother. What a talent , her unique & gorgeous vocals made her a big star but sadly she was killed in an airplane crash at 31 years old. I believe this was one of the last songs she recorded before her death
When I was young Patsy Cline was my mothers favorite singer and Loretta Lynn and she played these songs so much that every time I hear these songs now and it takes me back to that time it’s a big smile on my face. Patsy Cline had such a beautiful voice. She was another artist taken to soon but left a legacy of such beautiful music. Thank you for another great reaction from you two.
I'm distantly related to Patsy, through my mother's side. She's a cousin to me. Her Maiden name was Hensley. She did have such a beautiful voice, for sure.
At age 13, Cline was hospitalized with a throat infection and rheumatic fever. Speaking of the incident in 1957 she said, "I developed a terrible throat infection and my heart even stopped beating. The doctor put me in an oxygen tent. You might say it was my return to the living after several days that launched me as a singer. The fever affected my throat and when I recovered I had this booming voice like Kate Smith's." Wikipedia
Little information My Mom played with Patsy before she became famous in 1950s in Hagerstown MD during amateur night Where she practiced for the big time. You have to see the Movie Sweet dreams it is her biography of her life great movie she was born in Winchester VA
Another artist I think you'll like is the Carpenters. I would recommend Solitaire. Karen has one of the most beautful voices you've ever heard and this song really shows off her voice.
I'm a classic rock guy, but first time I heard Patsy's voice it stop me in my tracks. One of the most beautiful voices ever on record, right alongside Karen Carpenter & Peggy Lee in the easy-listening arena. Feel free to do more of her music, we certainly don't mind. ☺️. (Andrés, I completely agree with you on the style of the past (40s-50s). It didn't matter your social or economic position, most folks dressed so much nicer...took pride in their appearance but not in a vain way. My dad had several 1950s cars & I still admire the stylish designs to this day. Actually looking/hoping to get a late 50s car this summer!!
This song was recorded February 5, 1963, exactly 1 month to the day before her death in a plane crash on March 5, 1963. It was released as a single posthumously in April of 1963.
Don't let her beautiful voice and her physical beauty fool you , she was a tough cookie if she saw another woman flirting with her husband she had no problem telling them to take a walk and if they didn't she was known to break a few beer bottles over there head ! She didn't play when it came to her husband !
Dominika, I agree with you when you said the heart and mind are not always in sync. We women can spend much time obsessing over the "what went wrong". Had to smile about the cuckcoo comment, I can identify with that! lol. Patsy Cline is a legend, her beautiful, clear, soaring vocals are some of the best ever heard. She started as a country singer and was among the first to cross over to pop music. Her songs "Crazy" "I Fall to Pieces" "She's Got You" and "Walking After Midnight" are just a small sample of music she left us in her brief career. Great reaction, as usual 🥰
You should check out the movie Coal Miner's Daughter.. it stars Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn and Beverly D'Angelo as Patsy Cline... It's focused on Loretta's story but Patsy is amazing in the movie and you learn about her a lot
You’re right Patsy dressed up well, and she spoke well, but she was a country girl. She was just a Country girl who made good. The plane crash was awful.
As an old fogey , I say the world is going to hell . If you don't offend somebody , you aren't speaking the truth . In this disgusting " politically correct " era everybody is far too worried about offending somebody and too many people are too easily offended . Such people NEED to be offended on a regular basis , maybe it will make them wake up to reality . I am probably one of the most DELIBERATELY politically INcorrect people you will run across
