In this video, I take a walk down Soi Buakhao in Pattaya, Thailand on a Friday night.
Soi Buakhao is a 1.7km road running south to north through the center of Pattaya.
At night, Soi Buakhao is a red-light district. Here, you'll find go-go bars, nightclubs, gentlemen's clubs, live music, massage parlors, sports bars, restaurants, and hotels.
During the day, it's a normal commercial area with restaurants, currency exchange, beauty salons, convenience stores, etc.
Soi Buakhao is known for its adult entertainment. This is one of the main red-light districts in the city. This area tends to be a bit cheaper than Walking Street.
Just off Soi Buakhao, you'll find lots of small alleyways. These streets are lined with little hole-in-the-wall bars. This is a good place to go bar hopping or people watching. You'll see all kinds of characters around. This part of the city isn't really family friendly.
One point of interest on Soi Buakhao is Tree Town Night Market. It's not actually a night market. It's a large area with lots of street food stands and little bars. Another point of interest is Soi LK Metro. This is an L shaped street with several nightclubs. There are also some street food stands at the end of the street.
Pattaya is an affordable destination. I stayed at an Airbnb in South Pattaya for $25 per night in a nice condo about 15 minutes from Soi Buakhao on foot. I also stayed in a hotel in Central Pattaya for around $18 per night that was just 5 minutes from Soi Buakhao. A decent meal costs $5-$8. It's an affordable destination.
Pattaya is one of Thailand's most visited cities. While wandering down Soi Buakhao, you'll see thousands of tourists from India, the Middle East, Europe, and North America. Pattaya also has a large expat population. It's a great place to retire and live abroad.
