Best video ever. Ive always wanted to see a video showing the first time driving on the wrong side. Thanks for sharing the tips and experience. Gotta get over the fear of it soi can consider more condos, otherwise, I'd be stuck with condos on baht bus routes only haha
Used to rent my cars from Madam Pond in Pattaya she used to give me brand new Mitsubishi Triton pickups for 5000bht for 7days - those trucks will go anywhere and have fully switchable gearboxes you can full auto full manual or auto down manual up and vice versa shes a diamond once she got to know me she never even used to take a deposit!! Think one of her fmaily Mr Dean rents bikes still on the beach road. Those Jazz's great little cars tho for sure. Haha Thais drive on the correct side of the road - the left - same as UK 😝 easy for us over there... Learning curve for the USAs 😉 (same as me when i have to drive in France tho haha) Good on you for getting stuck in tho - only way is to throw yourself in right.
hi james, me again. you just sent me this link. thank you. it answered most of my questions. three things- 1. did the $15/day include insurance? 2. can you go anywhere in country? 3. can you rent a gps or should I buy one? thank you and i really love your personality. next time i get to pattaya i'd love to meet you.
Yep first class (rental specific insurance) is included and required by law. Yep unlimited miles and anywhere in the country is allowed by this rental company. I use my phone and google maps. Newer highend cars have gps but not likely in older ones or it will likely be out of date. Hope that helps!
You ain’t kidding James I’m with a group of friends that go every year to Thailand and tourist are going to come back stronger than ever, 1 buddy retired right before the situation and is living the life I can’t wait for my turn 🙏
Thanks for another fantastic video! The car rental price was quite reasonable back then. I'm curious to know what the current rental rates are today..? Also thanks for the cool Ferris Bueller video finish..!
i've been to Thailand many times however, i was always hesitant to rent a car. How is it driving on the left? My concern has been that you have been condition to respond situations as they appear on the right, some times just reflexes. Also, is the gas peddle and brake the same if you were driving on the right?
It's really not that tricky. Only things different are the wipers and blinkers are swapped. Other than that all the controls are the same. You'll be amazed how quickly you adapt.
