I stayed at The Blackwood in April 2023. Definitely recommended. The owners have a lower price hotel across the road. Dolphin House. Not as good but it also is cheaper. Soi 7 is a great spot.
great content as usual,i dont need a pool, gym or sea view in patts, soi diana all the way for me,bukhao end, 650-750bht a night is suffice have stayed at the AA on beach rd in the past,20 years ago n more ,rooms were old n tired but pool n view was good for bout $36 AUD back then
I liked Blackwoods best. closely followed by hidden gem. The problem with Hidden Gem is it's no good if you have a suitcase. No lift. And immediate vicinity & path to hotel was hideous. But the seaview room was very nice. Good value.
In Real Terms ... Pre Tsunami the £ to Bhat rate was Floating at 80bht ... After that it was 40/45 ish ... & It's never really changed ... Go-Go Ladies Walking St were £21 long time ... Sooooo ... My Point being ...We used to stay in Hotel for 1 to 3 Months at half the price now ... Sunshine on Soi 8 or Sabai Lodge on Soi 2 were the go to Hotels {Diana Inn was even Cheaper} ... Now Much Much Cheaper to get Condo for 15/1800bht per month {High Season/X[mas} ... Great Video though ... Keep up the Great work ...
I stayed at The Globe for three weeks back in Sept 2023. The staff was friendly and always helpful. The ocean view room was excellent, and daily breakfast was perfectly cooked and presented. The only cons were occasional bar noise, and lack of elevator.
A+ Best video yet! Lets see more this price range, do a series. 40 to 60 USD range. Also, I need an elevator ( those stairs looked brutal for an older man ), balcony and pool. I forwarded this video to 2 friends. Thanks again !
Not too impressed with the last one. They always charge more even for a tiny view of something. But I think the Black Wood hotel is the best one from this video. Liked the rooms. Etc. Thanks for this! Well done! 👍
I stayed at Sunbeam in March for 5 days I got a half price deal. Nice hotel but can be very noisy when big tour groups turn up, I think there were 6 guys sharing the room next to mine until the hotel management told them they couldn't all stay in there 😂😂 that last one looks really interesting and with the rooftop bar area great 👍🏻👍🏻
The Globe.. used to be a Swedish restaurant The Globetrotter for many years. I see now that the old owner finally sold it. Not easy to find it, if you don't know the area. But they have a sign out on Pattaya Klang ..
Great show ! You're getting better and better, especially with your variety of questions answered ! Aloha 😎🤙 Are there Low season prices ? Sounds pretty high these days ?
That last hotel was very intersting .... Will deffo bookmark it for option for the next Pattaya trip, but I prefer bigger rooms... But it is quite hard to find those inside the centre of Pattaya hotels.
Haha, Sunbeam is one of my fav hotels. It is 4 star apparently. They have recently refurbished the walk way to the pool. I've stayed there for £35 in the Deluxe room.
I think the Blackwoods is decent, but the pool at Sunbeam was surprisingly nice. The Globe seems a bit weird and lack of actual usable pool and gym hurts it. They really charge up the nose for the rooms with a view too. I'd rather just take a minute to walk to Beach Rd and take in the view from one of the many bars across the street
Always Remember, All rooms are Not created the same ! Next to the elevator,on top of the garbage cans, mext to the late night bar, sun facing,no balcony or looking at the wall or another room and Last to be upgraded, is Always the cheapest. You decide what you're worth,at the time. Just saying, from Experience and business knowledge !😎 Better than tenting in LA or NY anytime!😉 Remembering Requesting the 2nd (noisy 😊) corner unit in patong where I could "say hello, come up" to the wonderful passer buyers 😮😅. Location is important !😎 Oh, and the receptionist was Very Nice, lol. Of course I helped out, for the children.
All looked nice n clean . Probably would of tried any of them in my youth . Staying right in the belly of the beast is a bit much for me these days ...555 Thanks for reviews..
Great rooftop lounge on the one, which is so important, to me for downtime. Always ask about 1 month, which is the only time they make a deal. At least for your subs knowledge.
I loved the sleaziness of The Globe. The first one overpriced, the second one nice. But D hotel for me and mid range value (858 Bht. on Agoda for tonight). As always Daz your content is excellent thank you. 🙏
Those lock-boxes aren't always attached, so can be carried away. Whoever takes it away will figure out some way to get access. What good are they, then? In fact, come to think of it, the ones that are attached can be easily unattached, with the right tools. Isn't it better to hide your valuables somewhere in the room or, simply, take them with you?
Daz, whenever you have to go to BKK, where do you stay there? Or, to put this a different way, can you recommend a couple of cheap hotels in Bangkok that are worth a damn?
Hi nice reviews, sadly all these fail my first criterium, "a swiming pool big and deep enough to swim inn." If staying just a day or two, its not important, but if staying a bit longer, its nice to have.
It would be nice to see more of the upper class hotels. I stayed at the Amari during my last visit. Got upgraded to the Club Executive Ocean Suite. What a fantastic room. I
Daz,the last 1 I see what you mean about been good for groups However the Colour scheme is tacky, blue and red clash big-time. But it is Pattaya after all 😆
All of them are completely overpriced especially for low season and certainly there is much better value available. Blackwoods which I have stayed at is a completely different category to the other 2. Be aware that the infinity pool in BlackWoods is only about a metre deep. Sunbeam used to be non gf friendly and it certainly is showing that is decades old. The room looks tiny in the last place with a balcony looking out at a stairwell, it is a more expensive version of the weekend/tweet tweet hotel with much smaller rooms and a tub on the top Pricewise none of those hotels could be considered midrange. Midrange in low season is between 1000 to 1300 perhaps 1400 at the upper end
exactly my thoughts... 2500 baht only cos of seaview...I really dont consider that to be midrange price. Blackwoods yeah look nice and location is great, but even then I would prefer a cheaper hotel..I prefer to spend money on entertainment and not on accommodation.
Are the prices you compare like for like? With Agoda, etc., you have to add taxes. Are those quoted by the hotel inclusive of taxes, i.e., what you pay?
Not sure these are that much above the budget places to be honest. The last one with all the stairs i thought i was back on the statue of liberty 🗽 only it had moved to pattaya. Ironically there was a little statue on the stairs. Thanks all the same daz.
hello Daz, I often come to pattaya and I would like to change place. is what hotels in front of the 6th selves at KTK hotel, there are 3 hotels decent 4 stars at the price of 25 dollars a night.nova suite, sun view, novel gold ...I would like you to face 1 video in this neighborhood. Thanks
ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE GUYS. PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE AND READ. 👍👍👍 After using puta clubs all over Spain, I'm really liking the idea of Pattaya. Trouble is:- health!!! I'm bad with my breathing, COPD. I can't walk far, are mobility scooters a thing in Pattaya???? As even walking very short distances is a big problem for me. I usually find ladies in Uk and Europe don't mind putting the work in, so to say. I would so love to go to Thailand. But I'm also a realist!! The airport assistance for disabled people is second to none in Europe, anyone had any assistance at the airports in Thailand?? Would i only be able to get hotel to bar to bar on foot only?? Thanks for taking the time to read this if you're still reading guys.. as you can imagine the advice i need is the difference between dreaming of Thailand, or actually going in a couple of months. TIA GUYS.
Pattaya is probably one of the worst places in Thailand for mobility scooters, the sidewalks are useless, you would have to use the road, which is dangerous.
@@everythingPattaya thanks for replying Daz. So honestly speaking, i would need a hotel, right in the mix, with bars/girls very nearby. I could put up with noise late at night in the hotel. I'm ok balance wise, so conditions of pavements not a problem. I just have to take everything at a slow pace with my health. It's just i always wanted to go to Pattaya. But now I'm solvent and in a position to do so and go. My walking distance is a concern. But walking 100 foot either way from the hotel to bars isn't a problem.👍
I see plenty of guys on mobility scooters in and around Pattaya and Jomtien, I'd probably say stay somewhere like The Lawinta hotel at Jomtien, there you have all your bars on the doorstep and within easy reach, or book a hotel on Soi 7 just over the road, you'll be fine on a mobility scooter down there also, plenty bar girls and not too much traffic, have a look on Streetview, hope that helps.
I have stayed in a lot of hotels in thiland I found out u don’t have to go up in price to get a good hotel it’s the staff that makes a hotel great I have never said I will never stay in this hotel never went over 20£a night cheap in thia hotel’s dosed mean it’s going to be bad😊😊
@@everythingPattaya I know, but you have a wider selection of sweets. Not the same variation of papaya. Here you have spices from Brazil, cupcakes from Columbia, velvet cake from Venezuela or cocoa from Cuba. And none cries about their "sick water buffalo" back home.
I think one thing is the Agoda 'listed' price can be quite misleading. By the time you are clicking confirm the final bill is padded by another 20%! Various fees and taxes and whatnot, but if Agoda lists a Pattaya hotel at 1300b/night you can expect to actually be paying 1550b/night (which is close to what the walk in rate is).
They are the biggest wholesaler in SE Asia and thus command a better price. Best there's trick such as rooms with the worst view, or noisy, next to the elevator, or not up to date yet when under remodeling. (I was a whse travel Co owner , Hawaii exclusive)aka travel agent "in the know". They also are guaranteed a certain # of RMS, so they can have space when otherwise Sold out. 😊 All rooms are NOT the Same same, but, Different ! 😉😎
@@clrodrick Depending on your location, Agoda might only show the price before taxes. In the menu, click in the currency icon, then you can choose to show the total price per night.
The first room at the Globe has 2 reclining deck chairs . Its normal for small hotel rooms just to have chairs . Need another 6sqm at least for a couch. Many of his other reviews have couches .
not really impressed by these hotels a bit basic and overpriced for a hotel on a main bar area soi that you will 1000000% be dealing with the bar noise daily. I know youve done tons of hotel reviews over the years so its hard to find newer decent options. I've personally used your videos to pick where to stay that's close enough to the action but not right on a main soi and the hotel is very good quality like the march hotel!
@@dragonflame9615 It also comes down to soundproofing rooms with double pane windows and everything else. I'm no expert though, just saying my week long stay at Blackwoods I was not troubled by the outside noise at all. I did pay for an upgraded room though at a high floor. Maybe that was part of reason who knows.
@@drinkslee The staff was great! No complaints there at all. They also have a decent breakfast buffet served free each day to hotel guests. It is not gourmet but for sure is decent, maybe a bit beyond other hotel buffets. I enjoyed my time there, but paying upwards of $70 a night is a bit tough considering the competition all over Pattaya. I just like to try out different hotels each trip in different areas of Pattaya. Each area is a different vibe for sure.
