In this stream, I'll be showing a technique for creating full tracks or live jams with Patterning 3 inside AUM on iPad.
I'll be going slowly and trying to keep everything BEGINNER FRIENDLY!
Questions comments and enthusiasm are encouraged!
Thanks for watching!

Is it easy to upload your kits to the cloud for sharing with others now?

Hey Hey! It's as easy as it's always been. 😁🙏👊 No issues at all and when I did this stream, there were a total of 691 cloud kits available for free download! WOW!

How much did it cost to make that track? I.e. what did it cost to,purchase all the various instruments and plugins that are used , including Aum? I fear that going this route would be cost prohibitive for me…
@ElectronisoundsAudio
@ElectronisoundsAudio 29 дней назад
I don't have a running total of app and gear cost. ;) Gear choices are extremely personal choices and we all have different gear and different musical tastes and different gear needs (wants). If you're not already producing music on an iPad, then this app might not be for you and that's ok! Most people who are using an iPad for any sort of music production already have AUM for hosting plugins - it's essential, imho.

Are they still updating version 2 for iPad? It's completely gone from the store and it's a forced purchase to upgrade to 3.
@ElectronisoundsAudio
@ElectronisoundsAudio Месяц назад
Sorry, I don't know anything about that. I don't think anyone is forcing you to upgrade though - if you have already 2, it should still work? If you don't already have 2, then buying the most current version would make sense though.

Hi Dean! fellow Digitakt/Digitone user here. You're the first content creator to actually release video content with a level of depth that actually approaches what I'm looking for to get a clear idea of what Patterning 3 is actually capable of. There's this one question in particular I've really been looking to get an answer to, especially considering what you discussed at the end of your video regarding "slicing" a loop: In the Layers section (where you have the ability to adjust Velocity, Coarse tune, Fine Tune, Nudge, Pan, Probability, Ratchet Count, Ratchet Decay) what happens when you click on the "+" icon next to "Layers" ? Is it possible that somehow that could pop up a list where the "Sample start point" and "Sample length" could be selected as options to be added to the list of p-lockable (or LFO modulation enabled) parameters? Additionally, are the LFOs in Patterning 3 global or per track? I tried contacting the dev to offer my help as a tester as I suspected this app considering its level of complexity is very likely to have a substantial amount of bugs left in it especially if it's a "1 man operation", but I never got a response from him sadly. In your opinion and considering your weeks of experience with it, how usable do you think Patterning 3 is at the moment, in terms of being crash-proof and reliable/robust in AUM? Lastly, is there a mechanism to enable fine adjustment of p-locking parameter values? Looking at your video it really seemed like it could have been useful to have some sort of a modifier side button to enable a "fine adjustment touch mode" but I didn't notice you using such a feature. Is there a way to audition steps "elektron style" from what you could see?
@ElectronisoundsAudio
@ElectronisoundsAudio Месяц назад
Hey Hey! Thanks for watching! 😁🙏👊 1. AFAIK, there is no way to automate "sample start point" but you CAN automate sample "decay" per step by holding the decay control in the sample load tab and changing it per step on the step wheel. 2. The LFO's are global, not per track. 3. I think it's pretty solid/stable right now, and for the bugs I did find, the developer has fixed them within a week. 4. No "fine" adjustment of parameters. 5. No way to audition individual steps Elektron style. 6. If you want an app more like how Elektron's work, check out this video I made a few years back on an app that simulates that workflow almost exactly: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WpH2CWbx4IQ.htmlsi=DLWtM3S3E8ePdtom

@@ElectronisoundsAudio Thanks for your snappy response :D I had no idea Ton existed, I quickly had a look since it's free to download but in complete transparency it's too basic for what I would expect from an app of this nature to have in terms of features in order to be of interest to me.Considering Drambo exists, I don't think there's much of an appeal for Ton at this point. It's regrettable Patterning 3 only includes 2 global LFOs... as it effectively would force users to load typically between 4 to 8 separate instances of the app to get 2 LFOs per track as a workaround for this limitation, which is obviously extremely inefficient in terms of CPU usage, on top of defeating the purpose of getting a birds-eye view over the pattern and making the potential use of the song mode a complete chore in such a use case. I saw in Patterning 3 a direct competitor with the Digitakt at first, but for now I think I'll keep monitoring the updates coming out in hopes that the features get expanded. I think most people don't realize the extent of the technological appeal of having a self contained AUv3 app that can play stereo samples with built-in modulator sources that can entirely bypass the typical awful limitation of having a MIDI resolution of 128 when modulating parameters using CC through external sources, considering that for as long as the modulator sources are built in directly within an app that gives an opportunity to completely bypass that inherent flaw and effectively gain access to a much higher resolution while still remaining in the context of AUM. This makes a massive difference in so many different situations, the most obvious ones being defining a sample start point and the duration over long samples with adequate precision, as well as the obvious resonance and filter cutoff frequency automation control just to name a few. I also was a bit unsure as to how practical it was to look at a circular sequence representation when being so used to more linear layouts, I guess it would have been useful to have an obvious visual marker to emphasize the first step of each beat beyond just having a thicker line preceding each of those steps. Maybe that'd be just a matter of getting used to it, but it can definitely get tricky to look at when use cases become more complex than just a 1 bar 16 step layout...
