A LOT of people get the more "boring" story segments mixed up as Filler. For Example: the characters taking a break at a hotspring / beach / whatever, but discussing relatively important story elements is NOT filler. In some peoples mind however, Filler = Anything non action, which is incredibly stupid.
It feels dumb and im no demon Slayer glazer but this somthing they do better than other animes the characters say it in their head so they don't look at dumb
14:55 There ARE parents in Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yugi's mom was cut from the anime's english dub and she appeared multiple times in the manga, and Joey's/Jonouchi's dad is the worst.
Funny enough when it comes to the FMA 2003 anime original ending I remember reading somewhere that the author actually told them to create their own original ending as well as the majority of the anime being original because they wanted the anime to be its own thing that was different from what they had in mind for the manga.
Yeah, the FMA 2003 anime is an amazing example of recognizing that anime is a different media than manga and taking advantage of that fact. I loved that one.
I’ve noticed that you stopped watching full recap of shows so I would like to recommend the show that I personally really like that show is Ninjago. It’s a show about this guys who have Beyblade powers I’d recommend it. I think the video. Explaining the Ninjago lore. Complete timeline by Tom critic is a good one.
10:38 this is what happened with bungou stray dogs, the anime caught up with the manga so fast they actually released the seasons ending before the manga released it. So hey that was kinda fun
My personal take on fanservice is it doesn't always have to be inherently sexual to be classed as fanservice it just as be something the fans really want. For an example of this when yugioh GX came out i remember so many talks from friends and even the yugioh community itself talking about who would win in a duel between Yami/Yugi and Jaiden which eventually did actually end up happening and fans popped off massively.
14:30 Truck-kun date becks to the first episode of Astro boy in 1963! And is best of the first manga story of Astro boy ambassador atom back in 1951! Truck-kun is old!
Well made filler does a good job of fleshing out character designs, backstories, and world building. And, while the filler can't be a major plot driving event, it absolutely can add extra wrinkles to future plot points that didn't exist in the original manga. A greatvexample is in Naruto, where Hinata's romantic relationship with Naruto started as filler but later had a major effect in a variety of future events...and even altered the planned manga event itself, as the ongoing manga creator saw how popular the romance was and added aspects of it to the manga where it wasn't originally intended. 😊
From how I understood Moe was, it's a liking and wanting to protect cute things. It's not sexualized. Like, a cute kitten that you want to protect is Moe. Of course I could've been understanding it wrong this whole time, but that's how I always thought about it.
On the dating stuff, to me it can actually sound insane that people date (as in actually being partners officially) without already loving each other, you can be friends and hang out or hook up even but dating (to me) feels like it should be when you at least love the person and want to pursue something more with them, but as said in the video and by pat, it's absolutely just a cultural difference
Skipping filler is such a wild concept to me. Like, dang, all you care about is big flashy fights and major story progression??? You can't appreciate just a comedic chill day where your favorite characters hang out and relax??? That just screams 'could never appreciate a slice of life anime' to me
17:31 A lot of people don’t really seem to get that the “Power of Friendship” thing is simply a character recognizing that them losing in that moment means the end of everything - usually the end of the world and the death of all those loved ones and friends who can’t be there fighting alongside them. It’s not just a “power boost” that comes out of nowhere. It’s literal hysterical strength because you have to be a little crazy to actually pick a fight with someone who could actually destroy the world.
Imo what makes one punch man op protag work so well is not just that its a parody/comedy but also bc saitama being as strong as he is weights on him mentally. While its played for laughs mostly, saitama has no real ambition or drive after gaining his power. Its like if someone like superman was depressed from being to good.
I like overpowered Main Characters in general, but the main reason is because of how less tense things around them can get. That way, it allows for more fun and comedy, as well as getting to know characters better without the threat that their backstory is signaling their death. In general, I prefer to laugh and just see something cool rather than be upset and frustrated by all of the dramatics.
Dragonball literally had Goku from like eleven to Twelve, to having two kids and a grandaughter, with GT having even more descendants of his Grandaughter for like an episode and a movie. Dragonball went wild with how much time passed in it's run even before Super expanded and retconned the Ten year Gap between Buu and End of Z.
A few things- The 03 FMA anime ended 5 years before the manga finished (FMA Brotherhood started airing just before the final chapter of the manga was released) . The missing father thing in anime is attributed to japanese work culture, where fathers in japan are the primary worker in the family and work insane schedules (often with times where they are sent overseas for months on end) so it is the mother that is primarily the one raising the child. The mangakas grew up like that, so make their characters have a similar experience.
I like the MHA training arcs because they’re just as much about learning teamwork and developing characters as they are about growing in individual power.
18:54 I’d say that 7 times out of 10, the “fanservice” in Fire Force actually serves a narrative purpose. 9 times out of 10, it’s about some kind of joke. And 10 times out of 10, if you’re aroused, distracted, or disturbed, it’s just as much on you as it is what you’re seeing and how you process it. Maki is an overachiever, who just so happened to do so with her muscles. Now, she has a complex about it because, while she worries that it’s common amongst everyone, she herself believes that a woman should be petite and delicate. Tamaki’s power is based off of the black cat superstition, but instead of her bringing bad luck to anyone whose path she crosses, she’s the one who ends up unlucky, in some way. When it’s an opponent she intends to fight, it actually comes off more lucky for her. At some point, Iris joined Arthur in being a blonde joke. It’s just like how in Soul Eater, just about every character is meant to have a complex or something that makes them a little off, or even full blown crazy. It’s all about how they manage it to either live with it or overcome it.
I really appreciate times skips when they are used well since it gives the main cast opportunity to move on from whatever villain or hardship they are fighting, to grow a bit and power up a bit, and then facing a new challenge that might be more difficult… instead of having the same little kids fighting bigger and bigger demons or sometimes deities. Dragon Ball Z handles it very well since the story of Goku is also the story of his son Gohan growing up and becoming a man like his dad.
Personally, I think the coolest timeskip in an anime I’ve seen was A Lull in the Sea. It especially works since certain characters didn’t “age” and the character dynamics/relationships became all the more complex.
For the confession trope, Monthly girls uzaki kun does something really funny for that trope, where he does hear the girl say she loves him, but he misinterprets it as being that she’s a fan of his writing and so he gives her an autograph Though the second time it happens, he does just mishear it and it is annoying but at least the first one is funny, and sets up the series
I hate that people act like Kirito is in anyway OP for no reason at all. In fact he's not really OP. In the fight against the Gleam Eyes, The Gleam eyes already had low HP, he was just strong enough to solo the rest of the HP of like half of the final health bar without anyone else dying, even then he barely had any HP left. And then with the fight against the Titan's hand guild, he was a front line runner with high hp and high defenses, plus the healing 600 of his 14K health every 10 seconds, is not that much, he was just overpowered for a group of guys who preyed on weaker players. Of course he would be OP to people over 30 levels weaker than him.
10:25 It's usually because as time goes on it progressively becomes less and less popular until it never continues. This happened with Katekyo Hitman Reborn. It almost happened to Bleach. It might happen with Hunter x Hunter. Black Clover got a movie recently so that's cool. And those are just the ones on top of my head
14:59 The “no parents” or lack of adult supervision is extremely common in media targeting young people, including more western media. The point is that, obviously, if responsible adults got involved, there wouldn’t really be a need for a plucky kid to go out on adventures of discovery, growth, and understanding of themselves and the world around them. Also, kids, specifically teenagers, are commonly used as main characters because they’re inexperienced enough that they likely won’t know the best way to deal with whatever situation they might get themselves into, young enough that they can bounce back quickly, young enough that they likely don’t have any serious responsibilities, yet, with teenagers, old enough that it really shouldn’t be a surprise when they begin to deal with more adult matters and showing maturity.
I know it’s got kind of an off putting title, but I’d recommend “That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime” if you’re looking to get into Isekai. I love that anime. The action is great and so are the characters
I'm not sure if it is canon or just my headcanon, but i think in one piece they don't do time skips because it already have several time skips as the time they take going from one island to the others, stoping in the way and enjoying and having adventures that aren't in the anime itself
Slapstick is unfortunately misused a LOT of the time. It’s often when a guy accidentally walks in on a girl changing, or trips and accidentally brushes her breasts or something, and the girl responds by beating the guy up. Worst part is, it only ever happens to guys. I’ve never seen it happen to girls. Another trope that Konosuba makes fun of by saying “if you think I’m just going to let you beat me up because of a mistake, then you’ve got another thing coming” (or something). The misuse of this trope actually pisses me off a lot, and sometimes even ruins an anime because it’s used too often.
10:52 Unless it’s an original, the whole point of the anime is to drum up attention and more sales for the manga or light novels it is based on. If the anime were to beat the manga or novel to the ending, and it was the exact one that’s going to be appearing in the manga or novels anyway, it’d become pointless to even continue reading for most people. Not everyone is die hard enough to collect everything about series they like.
I actually have watched most of One Piece filler for no other reason than I hate myself. That said, if you haven't already, consider watching the G-8 arc of One Piece. It's genuinely one of the funniest and most engaging filler arcs I've seen, and I actually like it more than some canon arcs. It's right after Skypiea if you're wondering.
So I’ve been hearing a lot of people hate on fire force for its fan service, and I agree but The fan service was only for a singular character and at least they made it in a way understandable as the character had a power or a type of bad luck which made it so fan service occurred. And the only reason I find it reasonable is because they used it in the plot for when the final fights occurred. So her fan service bad luck played a huge role in the story Edit: this is just my opinion but I believe fire force fan service was done right because at least they made it relevant to the plot and explained why her clothes always ripped off.
Honestly, I'd rather the MC not have a dad than what KHR did. Seriously, Tsuna was all but abandoned by his dad, thrown into being a Mafia heir, because all the Don's sons are either dead or illegitimate and his dad Iemitsu just conveniently having a job that excludes him from the line of succession and leaving his family for years, only sending them bs cards (controlling trafffic in the North Pole, really?) and money and the series treating Tsuna thinking he was dead as some sort of joke was just 😐. On top of that when the asshole did return, not because he missed his family, but on mafia business mind you, he got Lambo (a five year old) drunk. Again, this is treated as a gag. 😐 Asshole fathers are the absolute worst, only second to asshole both parents.😡😡😡
I don't think fire force is ruined because of Tamaki and i think it's done well in fire force compared to other anime because it's explained and doesnt happen for no reason there's worse and if you don't like it just ignore it i don't think you should have an anime "ruined" because one thing is there that you don't like it's basically like saying one piece is ruined because of it's length or that dragonball is ruined because Goku is a dumbass it doesn't make sense if you don't like it that's fine not to like it, but to say it ruins it for you is an over exageration because many many great shows use fanservice (including fire force) that are just so very good at telling a narrative thank you for reading my tangent.
@@Ayush-kc2vx to dislike it is fine but to say an entire show is ruined because of this is blaspheme. You're saying all the story, great fights, world building, lore and art is all ruined because of one aspect of a series you don't like. That's just blaspheme
That frame with the super long attack name was from mahou sensei negima, and yes it was a gag The manga is pretty cool, tho the author is consistently cursed to turn their action shonen ideas into ecchi comedies with lots if action.
of the more romance serries i think pat would still like bunny girl senpai not for the romance but for sakuta (the main character) he basicly is a smart ass who doesn't want the girls to out smart him but the girls are allso smart asses who try to do the same thing making it hilarious to see
Fire Force is great, the fanservice is what I most dislike in it, but I think people should not let a stupid gag stop them from enjoying the show. I can also confidently say that although a bad trope, it does it better than any other show for me, because for the most part it's not done as a "oh look at the body of this character", and more as a gag making fun of it especially from how ridiculous the ways the clothes come off are. (sadly this is most of the time and not all the time, sometimes like in the Shinra vs the star eyed dude where the clothes get burned is not only bad but with awful timing) There is some comentary on this from the character's perspective later on, perhaps in season 3 once it comes out. I can ignore those moments and enjoy everything else FF has to offer. If it really bothers you though, I can respect that.
Actually filler is just what was not in the manga so even just an episode that wasn't in the manga can be filler my favorite being shikamaru's grief from naruto technically filler but such a good filler episode so it can have effect depending on the anime if they want to expand on a character
I hate One punch men but i like Mob psycho 100:because the thing with Saitama is that he is just a gag and not a characher.........and the thing with Mob is that he struggles in everything BUT the fight's and the entire show is about him not giving into the temptation of making his life all about battles and his worth as a person measured by his psychic power's.
Speaking of Kingdom, I also started watching that pretty recently, but I'm 40 episodes in & the MC is *STILL* annoying the hell out of me! Does he ever get better? Seriously, it's driving me crazy, but I want to keep watching...
i do not like timeskips most of the time because of HOW they use them, especially with the my hero academia one sometimes it feels as though the mangaka doesnt know how to transition from one thing to another, and just does a time skip to avoid immediately solving that, sometimes using flashbacks to fix it later going from kids who are kinda barely doing hero work officially to "oops its a war, deku dark and moody now" etc with no real explanation instead of a smooth transition timeskip through story telling to that war same with the one in AOT its just too sudden and jarring most of the time dragon ball does it where it doesnt actually skip over anything important other than the character litterally aging, where as my hero feels like going straight from fighting buu to the tournament of power, then using flashbacks to explain what we missed with the tournament of gods leading to goku meeting zeno etc
Says that the yaoi moment trope is often for comedy and is slightly homophobic but then uses two of the most sincere/genuine BL series of modern times as examples (Yuri On Ice as the icon and Sasaki to Miyano as one of the main clips), I'm sorry but that lacks awareness of the genre lol like the video couldn't have just used the stock NaruSasu kiss instead like everybody else
I think the pic for filler and yelling should be switched around because One Piece doesn't have any filler issues in fact out of all the long running anime One Piece has the better fillers and they only take about 8% of the entire series while Naruto shippuden has drastically more fillers and Bleach's fillers can mess up with the series pacing, I almost dropped Naruto because of all the boring Fillers and if it wasn't for the manga I might've as well would.
A disgusting trope that is still being used is the 30 or 40 year old being reborn as a child and falling in love with a child, even though they are still mentally a 30 or 40 year old
