Patti is simply one of the GOATS. I've seen her in concert several times, and she has never failed to deliver at the highest level. Even more than the performance was the unscripted moment you shared with us. Your brother and friend are blessed to have you in their lives. This was the first tour I saw of Patti’s and it was just incredible. This whole concert is worth watching if you get the chance! I’m going to see her in December. Can’t wait!
I agree with you 100% about church singers. LIVING LEGEND Ms. Patti 'BADASS' Labelle, in her prime (I'd say all the way to her mid 60's) was an untouchable vocal beast. No other singer (except for Fantasia) male/female, from any era, performed like Patti Labelle. She not only hears the music, she FEELS the music.

1991 was around the time I was born.. I would see her 18 years later for the first time and have seen her probably half a dozen times since. Debbie still tours with Patti if I’m not mistaken! I would have killed to have been able to have seen her during the Burnin’ era!

Patti Labelle's three sisters all died from various cancers before age 45. Patti Labelle didn't believe she was going to live past 45 years old, and suffer the same fate as her sisters. However, when she turned 50 years old, she believed she was going to be ok. She also had the ABSOLUTE BADDEST musical director, EVER!! The late, great James 'Bud' Ellison and Patti Labelle were the original DYNAMIC DUO!!
