Great Review Paul, very thorough and you made some good points regards how to set it up. I do not have as much food as you on my tray (snickers, bounty's, mars bars, Cornish pasty etc) so I could put an extra tub in there place 😂👍

Hi Paul, after watching your videos. I purchased the Matrix sliding tray, the bait brolly and the tulip kit roost. I have found that these three items together have enabled me set quicker, and the large extending tray gives me so much more room. I don’t find the bait brolly quite perfect but it does work. Have set up the matrix tulip roost kit and use the Preston support tripod with the blue kit roost. I find that cos’ the tulip roost hold the to kits firmly it does not need the matrix kit roost with a second matrix tulip roost. I think this is cos’ the looser Preston roost doesn’t hinder the removal of top kits. One pinch point seems to be suffice. I now need to order the bag from Midwater to house all the bulky items. There is no doubt that having to open and remove contents from so many specific bags takes too much time and requires too many kit bags to keep track of. Thank you for the videos they are very informative I think I’ve seen most of them now!

So glad my videos have improved your set up and organisation on the bank, the excellent midwater bag looks like the final piece of the jigsaw.

Your report has given me food for thought, unlike yourself I do like have covers fitted to keep everything on the tray dry. However the one drawback of these covers is that they tend to get in the way if I want to fish close in on my left.

I know what you mean. I have seen the newly released (this week) new Matrix bait brolly which gives a lot of positioning options to provide protection but give access.

Paul a great unbiased account of your tray. 👍 Good point about sliding closed yes Matrix do need some locking device to stop this, if I bought one I’d drill small holes and insert small removable locking pins to stop this occurring.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the review. Has there been anything you've since that you'd be tempted with instead? Can the 4 corner leg clamps be rotated so the knobs all point inwards, taking less space? Many trays don't have any outrigger legs/arms etc, and you've explained the 3 iterations that you've been through to ensure you achieve additional support. Does it really additional support or are you being over cautious?
@paulstacklereviews1695

You can’t adjust the angle of the fittings on the tray. I wouldn’t want to use the extending tray without some sort of support, it would be tilted away from you without support. I still have the extending tray but usually use a Matrix self supporting tray now with a detachable rain cover, which as the name suggests doesn’t need any support. There is a separate video review of the Matrix tray on my channel.
@dufferscorner

So when using the matrix bait brolly and the matrix extending tray how and where do you put your matrix kit roost when it’s raining? I often fish a public park lake where I cannot put kit roost behind me. I’m right handed and like the kit roost on my left side. Usually on my right side I have the pole roller supports if fishing with more than top plus 2 sections? I haven’t yet found a solution to my problem. Any ideas please? Sorry it’s such a long question but this is causing me serious problems, I don’t like sitting under an umbrella and I’m thinking about buying the Halton Hunt suit.
@paulstacklereviews1695
@paulstacklereviews1695 Год назад
Apologies missed your message. If you watch my video about roosts or my on the bank set up video you will see I have a bracket on the back left leg on my box with a matrix roost and browning freestanding roost parallel to the bank. I now use a Preston small ventalite hooded side tray (sometimes on top of the matrix extending) so don’t use the bait brolly (separate video on the tray). You will not regret getting a Halton Hunt suit, I have a pole jacket now as well, quality waterproofing which means a brolly is not required.

Paul would you say this needs the legs, seen one on eBay with no legs is why I ask.
@paulstacklereviews1695
@paulstacklereviews1695 2 года назад
In my view you either need legs or a side tray support arm (I use the Preston one). With either of these it’s super solid.
