Paul McCartney and Jane Asher holiday in Tunisia
Thursday 4 February 1965
Paul McCartney and Jane Asher arrived in the seaside town of Hammamet in Tunisia for a 10-day holiday on this day.
They stayed at a villa owned by the British Embassy, where they stayed free of charge. The villa was secure and discreet, allowing McCartney and Asher to explore the coast south of Tunis without attracting press attention.

In the grounds of the villa was a small amphitheatre, and inside the house was a lavish bathroom with a sunken bath. The acoustics were perfect for songwriting, and McCartney wrote ‘Another Girl’ in the bathroom.
The couple returned to England on 14 February, the day before recording began for the Help! album. #paulmccartney
