His friend Paul Azinger pays tribute to Payne, and the others on that plane who died. This is the best in a human being you are witnessing in this video.
The day this happened, my wife and I went by the beautiful golf museum in Florida. We had no plans to stop, but when we saw it as we approached it, we stopped. We went inside and it was so quiet there! There was a reverence there sort of like everyone knew what was going on at the moment! The plan had not crashed yet, but the writing was on the wall! I will forever remember Payne Stewart and what a great golfer he was! R.I.P. Payne!
A side of 'Zinger I didn't know of. Well done Paul. An exemplary eulogy. Simple, profound, funny, deeply meaningful in plain speaking. Could not have been better. He connected completely with his audience in a way that high rhetoric can't. Speaking from his heart to their hearts. The best communication.
What a great tribute. Thank you Paul. Payne’s death really devastated our little city where he grew up. Especially among those of us who were lucky enough to have known him. Miss you brother. ❤️
I still remember Payne at the Ryder Cup in Brookline, MA in September of 1999, a month before his death, conceeding Colin Montgomery's 18th hole putt because the fans had constantly heckled him. Colin's clapping at Payne's action was memorable.
What a great speech Paul. What a wonderful witness to the Lord Jesus Christ, our wonderful Saviour and Redeemer. Payne would have been proud of you. May the Lord bless his family in this life, and the next.
I remember this from 1999. It still makes me cry. I was watching documentary about aircraft accidents when I swerved into Payne Stewart’s incident and remembered how cool the memorial was. And still is. Cheers bill
I walked TPC Sawgrass in 2005 with Zinger in a pro am. His PGA tour stories and stories about Payne were hysterical. It seemed like we were laughing the whole time! He was such a great dude! And then came the Ryder Cup…
I almost qualified for US Open in 2000 & 2002. On 11/14/2012 I was ran over by a car. I suffered Traumatic Brain Injury, broken back, broken sternum, smashed pelvis. Ben Hogan would of shook my hand. Jesus Christ saved my life. I have told this to 50 people I fear no man. I was wearing a WWJD bracelet when "it" happened. I have written a letter to Paynes wife and have traded emails with his son Aaron. RIP. Payne. WWJD. Dennis F. Jordan
I wore my WWJD bracelet for years after Payne passed . Until it was wore through ... It hangs on my office wall with a picture of Payne winning Open in 99 ... I live in Orlando and was going to go to this service , but I couldn't drive for I was crying my eyes out ...
Azinger has one major win and its the least of the four with the PGA. He only won it because he was competing againt the greatest choker of all, Greg Norman.
The words of Paul would be the words of people who are alive now and remember Payne as a charismatic person and super golfer epitomisesd by his words to Phil at the end of theirUS Open memorable contest that was so close a lasting tribute to sportsmanship God Bless
4 weeks before his death, Payne was part of the '99 Ryder Cup team that won, thanks to Justin Leonard's "Putt Heard 'Round the World"...it would be the ONLY Ryder Cup Tiger Woods/Phil Mickelson would win together...Rick Reilly had a great tribute to Payne in the 11/1/99 Sports Illustrated, + I have that issue! Even though we have Tiger & Phil, golf (and the USA's Ryder Cup teams) have never been the same without Payne Stewart...
@@dernbour9235 This was not me.... I first I never would watch this nor find any humor in a funeral. Not how I pass time around here. I do not even know of any of these people.
