I feel very privileged to have seen this great player in action ....and many others , too...I remember in the 1974 Second Semi Final , against Port , Bagshaw kicked a stab pass , on a right angle , in the middle of Football Park ....and hit a team mate on the chest ....simply sublime skills.....Sturt fans , in those days , were spoilt ....and we loved it .
for those wondering about PAuls massive bomb from the edge of the center square at 4:01, this distance is about 60m from the goal. Footy PArk was 165m goal to goal, centreline was 82.5m and the centre square is 50m long, so thats 82.5m-25m = 57.5m down the middle.
You know,,,,, when you have guys like Rick Davies,,,,, Micheal Graham, Sandy Nelson, Malcolm Greenslade Etc playing around you. I suppose It would be very hard to win a magarey medal
This is what Peter Motley was going to become but adding more modern training and knowledge. SA’s Bruce Doull equivalent was Bagshaw. Such a high level over his entire career. Champion.
I'm not black and have perfect vision Stevie Wonder great Bagshaw loved watching him but 3 medals between macca and aish and 33 premierships says is all
Aish was brilliant, - and he dominated state games...and Macca was tough as nails. But Robran, Bagshaw, Motley were the best of the best. Aish, Ebert, Jarman on the next rung. (dont get me wrong, ALL these guys were All Star team calibre). its hard to even say that those 3 guys are not in the top heap but if you had to pick 3 from those 6 thats how i'd put them.
@@kevinmorden9767 its a tough call since Aish and McIntosh were involved in only 2 premierships and they were in the same team at the same time, and Macca's magareys came during a period where SANFL was a lot weaker than it was as most good players went east. Bagshaw was involved in 7 premierships, runner up in another and won 5 best and fairest during that time, but didnt win a magarey - at a time where great players stayed put in SA.
