I love how Biz can get big names like Sid and McKinnon on his pod and Sportsnet has to interview him. Its just another example of how people don't care for big media like Sportsnet, we're just stuck with them due to the stranglehold they have over NHL game coverage. Keep doing your thing Biz, Spittin Chicklets is a great podcast.

Lol yes. He is speaking to a Canadian broadcast that likes click bait and viewers so they will want to try and talk about the leafs. Not to mention, it fit in with what the leafs are trying to do. Marner might be the only 10 mil+ a season RFA. Say what you want but when a leaf RFA is looking at the most money then sportsnet and tsn will run with it. ESPN never focuses on the leafs. Go read up on some college football or don't watch the video
@HousewolfDaddy
@HousewolfDaddy 5 лет назад
Andrew Bout ESPN never focuses on hockey period because of the contracting rules for the NHL. That’s part of why many Americans are annoyed with 24/7 Leafs on Sportsnet. It’s the only place to get good NHL news. Personally I’m just sick of the Marner debate because there’s never anything new. We heard everything that’s come out so far already in the first couple weeks. They just spent the rest of the time bickering.

So there are 11 NHL players who have more points then Crosby at 30 years old. With the adjustment for "Today's NHL" he still falls way short of the elete. So please tell my how he is the GOAT?
@Pojotin
@Pojotin 5 лет назад
Look at his games played compared to the others dumbfuck
@HousewolfDaddy
@HousewolfDaddy 5 лет назад
bunari Before you go name calling- (too late) why don’t you take your own advice. Even just looking at the top 3, he absolutely isn’t #1 when you factor in the games. Crosby is almost 1,000 points behind Gretzky in 125 less games so unless he can put up half his career total next year, that game comparison doesn’t matter. He has almost 200 points LESS than Lemieux except Lemieux did is with 183 FEWER games played. Jagr is where it starts getting debateable. Jagr has about 130 more points in 93 more games. So if Crosby given this year as well to count as age 30, he would still need a spectacular season to pass Jagr. If you really want to talk look at game counts...some of the all time greats that won’t come close to #1 like Howe, or Richard or any of your older era players- they all played half the amount of games by age 30 if that. Howe or Marcel Dionne are probably the two best for a statistical analysis with even games played
@madlori523
@madlori523 5 лет назад
Look at points per game. He's fifth overall all-time, without an adjustment for era.
@HousewolfDaddy
@HousewolfDaddy 5 лет назад
JeremyCuddles There’s a reason for that. Everything gets “bigger, faster, stronger” as the game evolves. You know what else changed? Rules. Equipment. Give Crosby a wood stick with no flex-no curve or a home made curve and leather skates and limit the training he’s given to 1960-70s hockey and physical training and tell me he’d be as good as he is now. Not to mention murder was basically legal in the game back then, and players just had to deal with it. He wouldn’t survive the slashing and stick work that went on back then for sure, not to mention the constant hitting. The primary reason for the evolution of the speed and skill being “better” today, is because of the rules and game style changes. Players are given more space, and defenders are given more limitations. That’s why you can run a 4-1 set up and teams will take defensemen who don’t actually play defense very well. In terms of goalies, that’s a function of equipment again. Goalies were originally butterfly because their pads weighed 10x more than the ones they wear today. “No flexibility” may be how you see it because they weren’t forced to sprawl all the time, but actually hockey is likely to transition back to a stand-up primary hybrid style instead of a butterfly primary hybrid or pure butterfly. The damage done to goalies by trying to be ultra flexible is why you have guys like Carey Price that don’t make it past 30. They’re destroying their hips before they’re even into the NHL with the current style. Many of the newer modern goalies have already started shifting away from using a butterfly primary stance. With lighter pads, being able to stay up more often gives them a better chance to make a save anyways if they cut down the angles. I disagree that Defense are stronger today. Give me one example of a current defensemen who is better defensively physically and positionally than the 80s-90s at the very least. You’ll always be able to find better examples in the past. Offensively I agree it seems that way, but that’s because with the rule changes the game has transitioned to a 4 man rush instead of a 3 man rush, and the point shot is going away so defensemen are being used like 4th and 5th forwards. My personal belief is that you simply can’t compare eras point for point. If you gave Gretzky or Lemieix modern training, modern equipment, faster goalies and today’s hockey with less holding, slashing, and checking, would they score more or less? If you gave Crosby a wood stick, no curve leather skates, less padding, and 1960-70s training and nutrition, violent hitting, violent, constant, slashing and constant holding but gave him stand up goalies, would he score more or less. The end result is today’s game is a product of what hockey was and what the league decided to do with that. Modern training wouldn’t exist without what came before, and modern rules and equipment have either been changed because of the past or changed in spite of the past. I think the best example of a player who could be considered an all time great if not the best by any standard is Gordie Howe. He manages to score at least 20 for 22 years straight, starting his pro career in 1945, and then continuing to score at least 15 goals each year- up to multiple 30-40 goal seasons and 90-100 point seasons for another 35 years. He played in 5 different decades but the stint with the Detroit Vipers in the IHL was really a publicity/celebration thing. He was dominant for almost 40 years though, while most players get 10-15 and then another 5-10 of being good but no longer as meaningful as they once were. During all those seasons, Howe was also playing a bare minimum of 12 less games as well. I think the average comes closer to -25 per season not counting playoffs. Those high 20 goal seasons would be high 30s at the very least probably more like 40. The 30s and 40s would be more like 45-60. They would all be good no matter when they grew up but you can’t compare players point for point without them actually playing through those eras. Howe is as close as you can get.
