Just spent most of weekend in tears at The Blue Niles music. So beautiful, passionate......Reminds me of growing up in Glasgow and leaving there and going to see The Blue Nile in concert. Forgot them for years. Timeless music.
I came late to the Blue Nile party. I will not be leaving anytime soon! until I've drunk my fill. Addictive ! I'm a young 77 year old. But who's counting.
Hey, no matter ... you got here, with time to spare ;-) I was introduced to this Blue Nile, quiet city stuff early and can honestly say there’s a song for all seasons of my life ... uncanny or what? !
What wonderful lyrics, I've just found this music, beautiful, poignant, so true...I'm 70. Thank God for RU-vid, opened up a whole new world for me during Covid, I've time to look around and to listen ✨👏💚👏✨
Actually not sure if I've heard anything better than this on RU-vid. Just about perfect. Beautifully crafted and another example of the sheer brilliance of the Blue Nile. One of my best ten tracks ever.
Oh. Man spot on. It brings tears to my eyes. It's a revelation. It is what it's all about. it stirs my spirit. It is so beautiful and so true. God. It hurts in a way.
I've been a fan of the blue nile for ages, one of Scotland's best but underrated bands. They definitely deserve more credit! Paul's voice is distinctive and that's one of the reasons why I love the 70s and 80s music and bands. This is every bit as good as Hats and A walk across the rooftops.
Andy Haydon nice comment Andy. I remember the night I walked home with A walk across the rooftops. That evening my life changed musically still love Blue Nile to this day. These things remind me so much of my late mum who passed away in my arms. Thanks All best Gary.🙏🏻
beautiful......looking forward to paul b solo lp in april / may called ' mid-air' thanks a million for uploading these tracks mrsherco.... blue nile . paul b voice has been the soundtrack to my courtship / marriage and now soon to be impending divorce some 23 years later.....simply tearfully , sublime , beautiful ,poignant music
Not to put down anybody's inaccuracies, but this tune shows up on a 13-year-old CD by a band called Quiet City, Blue Nile's drummer Nigel Thomas's side project. Buchanan does another absolute knockout track on the same recording, 'Due North.' The CD is some very fine music (Nigel Thomas can sing too) and is worth it just for those 2 songs. Good luck finding it...
Thanks for that.... Oversight on my part not to mention it on this post but I tagged it Paul Buchanan so more people would seek out both the tunes he appears on on the album. In fairness I also posted a couple off the Nigel Thomas Album which is great and also posted the entire Album on my channel too. Hope that chills you out and thanks for the comments on this and Due North..Kind Regards, Mr Shhhhhhhhhhh
Jayne Baker Good one putting the whole of PUBLIC FACE PRIVATE FACE on your channel. The heavily R&B tracks are a kick, they sound akin to Steely Dan with a heart. May the Blue Nile and all its mebers past and present keep 'em coming.
The Blue Nile are just amazing...making music that makes me feel like I'm walking in a city at night in the rain...or in a film set...painting and layering with sounds , somehow capturing those feelings and emotions...haunting, never dates for me x
love both music and lyrics .......... so relaxing !! i even liked the photo too ..... it s a nostalgic view of a "couple" and the things that always should say to each other ....
This is the sound of walking along Sauchiehall Street at 2am in the morning from the Extension in the summer of 1976 ( You know who you are ) and getting last orders in the curry house just before it closed. A small man walks in and is refused entry, he shouts out to the staff ' your curries are mince '. You were there, you know you were.
I just thought..... " if ever a couple were likely to have left things unsaid" it was probably these two. I also thought it was a nice juxtaposition with the passion that is evoked in this track as it reaches its climax !! On the other hand..................... I may have had wine !
Bk in t 80s I was in waterstones the book shop union st glasgow city,, it was early sunday morning and had not long opened and who walked into the bookstore , yep your right the blue nile them selves and everyone of them were polite courteous and I was soo taken bk by the whole thing Brilliant .
Why leave such a dismissive and condescending comment? This is from an out-of-print 2002 album from the drummer for The Blue Nile, Nigel Thomas, recording as Quiet City. It also features vocals from Blue Nile frontman, Paul Buchanan. It is very reminiscent of their sound and style and is a treasure to those longing for more new material as brilliant as this.
Not sure it helps but I have posted the whole album ,in two parts, on the channel. Not perfect but at least you can listen to the whole thing. kind regards mr sh
i have never heard this before. P B I see in the West End regularly. Next time i am going to hug him just for this.Could be a bit embarassing for us both. 2 middle aged Glaswegians but heh I deserve it!!!!
have always loved blue nile , but paul buchanan has such a great voice and is a great song writer , if you haven't already check out , blue nile (stay close) PURE CLASS ,,,,,,, NEED TO SAY NO MORE
Chris Rea meets Robert Palmer meets Michael Franks meets Jim Kerr meets Paul Young meets...falls short of comparisons. Quite special, timeless music. Thanks a million for posting!
Afraid I've never seen an Mp3 download for this album but Amazon do have the odd, used, copies but you do pay through the nose for them. If its any consolation, these two tracks are by far the strongest, in my opinion, but I'll upload a couple more of the vocal tracks off it so you can see what you think. Watch this space.
It features on the 2002 album 'Public Face Private Face' by Quiet City (essentially Blue Nile drummer Nigel Thomas). Quite a rare album, so expect to pay a few quid!
