@@paulmichaelrichardson6582 because he was nowhere near Scholes, sir Bobby, Bobby Moore, jimmy greaves, Wayne Rooney, or harry Kane. That’s why bollocks.
Played his best football in scotland, went onto Europe 96, and was the best player in that, I'm a Glasgow rangers fan and I've seen some great players at that club but for me Gazza was the best, plus the fact he was at it all the time..proper player...
He wasn't the best player in euro 96. Matthias Sammer was.He had a good tournament but England drew with Switzerland, beat Scotland due to Scotland missing a penalty, beat Spain on Penalties and lost to Germany on penalties. England had one great performance against a Dutch team in the group stage winning 4-1 but a Dutch team riddled with internal issues. Gascoigne picked the easy option going to Scotland rather than the premier League. He couldn't have hacked it in the premier league.
@@seanq5223 if you say so, but millions of people said Gazza was the best, I'm scottish and was at the game when Gazza scored for england, against his auld drinking partner Andy Goram, so if you think the German fella was better that's good, but as I said for myself and millions of others Gazza stole the show, and did you know he had been on the drink not long before that hence the celebration when he scored that goal...
Walter and Archie got the man working to full potential...what a player ....but it also takes a great manager to release the inner genius in the player ...Walter did that 2:51
Despite that horrific injury Gazza still had an incredible burst of speed and once he got the ball, his strength made it almost impossible to retrieve it from him .
Didn't excel in Serie A and played for Everton at the end of his career in the epl and did nothing. He did well in Scotland but he Cherry picked a league he could do stuff in @@darrenagnew7098
What a privilege to have seen Gascoigne and ladrup on the pitch together the goals that he scored against Aberdeen to make it 8 in a row were brilliant right behind the goals that day
The thing is Gazza could have become the one taking over after Maradona. Back in the day it wasent like now, there were plenty of superstars and then there was Maradona, before that Platini. You had Baggio, Mattheus, Van Basten, but only one Maradona. Remember my dad never cared much for english football and its players, then we saw a match with gazza, either spurs or national team and dad said, that guy, thats the guy who will take over, felt the same cause when gazza were in the mood he owened the stadium, unfortunately his demons put a stop to that + injuries. Great player tho
In fairness he played half a dozen times for Man U at the end of his career. He went to Barca after Celtic and setup 2 goals to win Champions League final
I dont care who's highlight reels you watch (Messi,Ronaldo, Maradona,George Best) You wont see any of them score as many goals with their wrong foot. Gazza didn't have a wrong foot
Even when he was at Newcastle both Liverpool and Manchester United rejected him, after Lazio he was reduced to Scottish football playing in front of 5,000 people
What a load of shite . Scotland has some of the highest attendances in football per capita in Europe . Even more so back in the 90’s crowds were even bigger . Back then the actual difference in football between the English and Scottish leagues wasn’t what it is now either . EPL is was in its infancy and Celtic and Rangers rarely lost to English teams when they played in Europe. Hence why the English star player of Euro 96 was playing in Glasgow. Would never happen now though .
The Scottish Premiership was about the same quality as the English Premier League in 1995. English teams used to get absolutely destroyed in Europe in the mid 90s😂😭
The first one against us in the league cup final shouldn’t have been a goal , he fouled John Robertson on the touch line, finish was brilliant though reduced me to tears, really thought when we got to 2-2 we were gonna win McCann was tearing bjorkland a new one.
