It’s not enough that Paul is quite possibly the best guitar player on the planet, but he does it while singing (quite impressively imho) at the same time. Folks that is so difficult...not just rhythm guitar, but very intricate stuff...WOW. I like many, think Paul is a very underrated singer. His Burning Organ solo album is a masterpiece. Rock on brother.
woohoo!!!!(standing ovation)...thats the best cover I've heard of that song...the whole band in time plus pauls playing...brilliant...hats off to yes, legends
Very badass. Playing all those lines and singing is no easy task. Takes a lot of work to work that stuff out. You can tell he works hard at it. Awesome stuff
I love Yes music. Like Rick Wakeman once said: "it is the musician who is there at the time, who has the honor to continue making the Yes music". Paul Gilbert did :)
wolfeddie I believe that quote was from the Yes Years home video from the Union tour and it’s soooo true. Paul blew my mind with this cover. One of the best I’ve ever seen.
No doubt....when I heard this cover on his album VIBRATO, Tony Spinner's vocal signature is very recognizable. If YES happens to see this their jaw will drop.
Why especially Steve Howe? Howe created this guitar masterpiece. It would be nice to know how Howe influenced Paul's taste. Anyway it is a master cover of a masterpiece.
Ya know... some guitar players get so good that theyre boring. Gilbert is not one of them. Super player, but for some reason very exciting to see perform!
The shame of this video is that the song is a Bass performance more than anything, and the cameraman clearly missed that fact. Bass player got no love!
Don't forget Yes recorded Close to the Edge, Relayer, Going for the One and many epics you can listen to live versions on Yessongs. You'll find an astonishing cover of Yours is no Disgrace by July Valls here, that help to understand Steve Howe's genius (don't miss the passage from 8:30 to 10:00) : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bUmgucVN-N8.html
