What are the odds of having a car wreck in the same place twice? Well, according to Paul Harvey, it happened this way. A stranger wrecked his Chrysler. He went to the nearest house and knocked on the door. A local boy used his father's tractor to pull his car out. The stranger gave the boy a tip and returned on his trip. Then, early one morning, that boy heard another knock on the door. It was the same man, who had wreck in the same spot in the same car. Again, the boy pulled him out using his father's tractor. Find out more in this episode of Paul Harvey's "The Rest of the Story."

Toyota's are wonderful vehicles. My family has owned several and loved them all. Those things are almost indestructible. I totaled one out in my teenage years. We rebuilt it, repainted it, and it lived a long life. hahaha.

What a great rest of the rest of the story! My first car was a 1967 Dodge Dart as a matter of fact. Love the old cars. Thanks again Mr Dison for a great and entertaining post. So many little tidbits of history we never hear, but are fascinating none the less. I really enjoy your posts! As always God bless you and yours and thanks again for everything you do!

The Dodge Darts were cool cars. A friend of mine had one from the late 1960s but I don't remember the exact year. I'm glad you enjoyed listening. I had no idea that Truman was a Chrysler man until I began researching this episode. Thank you again for listening and God bless you too. :)

I am a Mopar man myself. I have had a 65, 66, Newport, a 66 Imperial, and many more Dodges Chargers , Challengers and Darts. I can't blame the man for his choices.

Hey Brad …❤ur posts And LOVE my 2 Dodge Ram diesel pickup🛻.. but I’ll admit 2 owning several Chevrolet 🛻 before needing towing capabilities …. Being a retired trucker makes a strong case 4 diesel

I've never owned a diesel so I can't really argue for or against them. As you're a retired trucker, I'll definitely take your word for it. :)

My first car was a 1969 Chevelle, and I was 16. Looking back I wonder how I survived. God musta had plans for me because I never even got a speeding ticket and I would sometime ride 294 North and imagine racing a plane if it was taking off, from O'Hare, whipping past the Curtis Candy Compay and the gorgeous lightning-bolt, naming the Zenith Factory. Today I'm retired and drive a 2001, mfg in June, when we still had our US Constitution and Bill of Rights. Still looks as pretty as the day she was built. I just love a well-built machine, but I didn't like the choke coming off the Satellite when it always did, because it would stall out. Had to be warmed up to make a left turn

I bet you'd love to have that Chevelle again. I love classic cars. Few cars under $100,000 have any semblance of style. It's difficult to tell them apart these days. :)

I like Chrysler products only they see the parts way to high. So, I don't buy Chryslers. I have owned a couple, but it was too expensive when buying parts so I switched to Chevys. LOl Now adays it just doesn't matter, everything is expensive.
@BradDison

I've owned a couple as well. They were the lower, less expensive models, and they always broke down. You're absolutely right that everything is expensive. It's crazy.

Thanks, Brad. This was quite interesting. I loved seeing those older cars. If you ever get the time or inclination to study up on Truman, please read "Hiroshima Nagasaki" by Paul Ham. Truman was directly responsible for the death of everyone who died as a result of our dropping those two bombs. This book explains it all. I'm not trying to "steal your thunder" but the truth needs to be out there. Love where you are going with your channel, by the way. Again, thank you!
@BradDison
@BradDison Год назад
Historians have debated this since 1945. Some argue, as you stated, that Truman is directly responsible for the deaths. The other side claims that he saved estimates in the hundreds of thousands of Allied lives by dropping the two bombs. It's my opinion that both are true. I hope I'm never in a position to make a decision such as that. Thank you for sharing this. I will see if I can find a copy of the book at our local library. :)

You have an opinion of one man. If you lived back then you might have another opinion. Truman said that if they sent ground forces to Japan it would take years to defeat them. The Japanese were taught to respect their Emperor and do as he said. I believe every person in Japan would have fought tooth and nail, to defeat attacking forces. 100,000's of American men would have died there. I believe Truman did the right thing. He saved lives. If you can read about Japanese and American war. You will find out they did not Surrender, not the warriors. They fought to the death if need be. We have the word Kamikaze, because they tried to destroy our Navy ships by flying into them, filled with explosives. Please read about World War 2 War in the Pacific. Or look it up here on RU-vid

@@stevenf1953 You're right. It impossible and unfair to judge events or people in history based on our current beliefs, experiences, knowledge, hindsight, etc.

I'd just like to say, both my grandfather's fought in the Pacific. One on the B-29's in the Air Corps, and one in the infantry. Had those bombs not been dropped, my grandfather's may have been killed. You might want to think about the real evil in that war, the Nazis, and Imperial Japanese army and navy. The Japanese would not quit when they were defeated, and they had the women and children ready to sacrifice themselves. They forced Korean conscripts to fight, and look at the evil they did during the rape of Nanking, and the cannibalistic and torturous acts committed against pows, and all the indigenous people in that theatre of war.

Unfortunately ….Some thing about leadership of Germany & Japan in those days was out of whack…. Watched the story of the Britannic ship that sank after it hit “German mines” in the Mediterranean, if I got it right…. War is so totally unnecessary !!
