As Paul is singing about his past, and he wanted all the dancers to have red hair, it's pretty damn obvious a lot of this is about Jane Asher. She left him around June 1968, and according to friends, he was devastated. ''Paul blamed himself and was heartbroken'', said Cynthia Lennon. Alistair Taylor revealed that Paul tried to get Jane to forgive him and take him back, but she had made up her mind. I think he foolishly believed Jane would give him another chance like she had done before in 1965 (''It was shattering to be without her'', he told Hunter Davies, who was interviewing Paul and Jane for his Beatles biography in early 1968). When Jane appeared on live television and mentioned their split, Paul was said to have been shocked and must have realised then there was no getting her back. It was over. ''When Jane Asher left, Paul and the house fell apart'', said Mal Evans. Look at the songs he wrote around the time of their split and in the following months. Hey Jude, Honey Pie, Let it Be, Martha My Dear, The Long and Winding Road. These lines in I've Got a Feeling, ''I'd hate to miss the train/And if you leave me/I won't be late again...'' Paul missed his train home to Liverpool after a date with Jane in late 1963, and Mrs. Asher suggested he stay the night at their house. He was apprehensive but agreed. One night became two-and-a-half-years. It was the catalyst in turning their innocent romance into a relationship. He was bitter that she had now left him. Alistair revealed: ''For years, he'd had everything he could want: Jane was the first woman to reject him, and he did not like the experience. He was a little harder, a little more cynical from then on.'' I'm reminded of these lyrics...''For well you know that it's a fool/Who plays it cool/By making his world a little colder...'' Paul told a journalist in December 1968 that he and Jane ''were still in love with one another, but it's impossible.'' He penned Oh! Darling around this time. Jane was the one who got away...
THIS was WONDERFUL! Just seeing this NOW in June 2022 after Paul's 80th birthday. I LOVE watching "making of" videos and had NO idea there was one for Paul's EVER PRESENT PAST video. I always thought it was the SAME WOMAN CGI'd into multiple women, because their faces all looked the same in the finished video....well, this proves I was VERY VERY WRONG. LOL! they looked like they were all having a BLAST filming this. I LOVE the woman at the end that said that she "fell in love with Paul McCartney." Get at the end of the line, girl....I fell in love with him on the Ed Sullivan Show on Feb. 9th, 1964! Thousands, if not millions, of others who have fallen in love with Paul over the past nearly 60 years. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!!
