Paul McCartney headlined a star studded tribute to Jimmy Buffet on 4/11/24 with backing band, The Eagles. #paulmccartney #theeagles #hollywoodbowl #letitbe #jimmybuffet
Been listening to and loving the Beatles since I was 15 years old. I’m now 76 and still listening. They’ll never be another group like them. Glad I was there at the beginning.
Yea me too. My older sister was 15 I was 5 when she bought tickets to a 1965 Beatles USA show, only problem was my father found out and forbid her to go to see that crazy band. To this day she still has the unused 1965 Beatles concert tickets in her scrap book.
I look at him sitting at the piano looking over the mic and all of a sudden it is 1969 and I am looking at the album cover of Let if Be. Dear god, where did 55 years go?
He did smoke like rest of so many people back then. Then met Linda, became vegetarian and health conscious. George said he no doubt got the cancer from smoking. Why do people still do that?
I'm GLAD I was born when I was. I'll be 62 this year. I got to live thru ALL the best years in music, and remember hearing this song with The Beatles back when it was NEW in 1970. Gen X, Y, Z and Millennials etc. will NEVER know what that was like. This man is a LEGEND. He is LOVED by MILLIONS. Notice how EVERYONE in the audience KNOWS ALL THE WORDS.... God bless you Sir Paul, and of course, Sir Ringo too!!!....and R.I.P John and George, you too will NEVER be forgotten...
I'm with you on that Buddy, I turned 65 today 4/24 and I remember all of the incredible music when it was brand new and other fun times of the era...lol, sometimes I wish we could go back and relive some of those fun times and friends who are not with us anymore, I sure do miss them.....Never in my wildest dreams did I think our Country would be in the shape it is now, or I would live to see the things that have been done by the current Administration to our People and Country. I pray that it will be corrected in November. God Bless our Country and her People that are still true Americans and believe in the American way of Life.....To Life Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness and to the belief that the American Dream is Achievable for any American who is willing to work hard for it....
Sure, I’ll never know it was like to be alive 62 years ago. But I’m sure someone who’s over 100 years old would probably have a different idea about what the “greatest music” is compared to this long-haired hippy dippy crap. /s I’m Gen X, and not only did I get your music, I got all the great music that came afterwards and was able to appreciate it in a way that you never did, because [read your post again]. And the same thing is happening to me now with whatever’s happening in the music industry at present. I’m out of touch pining about how great the 90s was. We’re all biased towards our own experiences as being the most valid. Truly great music is timeless. “Let it be” is one of those timeless songs. So is “Clair de Lune.” So is “Strange Fruit.” “Man in the Mirror.” “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” “Crazy In Love.” “Alright.” “Bad Guy.” And countless other songs I’ve probably never heard. I look forward to discovering more of them. I’m glad you enjoyed the music of your time. But your pity for younger generations is misplaced and myopic.
If you’re only sixty, you’re too young to have fully enjoyed the Beatles while they were around. You were like, what, six when they stopped making music?
@@nathanaeldavenport2251Problem you have is you are not comparing like with like. I think it’s fair to say the 60s and 70s were to most creative of all eras of popular music, rock, soul, funk prog and jazz. Yes of course people love the music they grew up with, but those who were lucky enough to be growing up in these decades were fortunate to experience this incredible music at first hand.
IM POSITIVE THERE WONT BE NOT EVEN 1 PERSON ON THIS PLANET WHO WONT CRY WHEN THIS BEAUTIFUL MAN GOES WITH THE LORD ,,, BLESS HIS BEAUTIFUL GENUINE SOUL ,,,
At 72 yo, when I listen to any of the Beatles music I feel like 22 again. I saw Paul in concert two years ago and I had tears of gratefulness in my eyes when the concert ended. Thank you so much Paul-and John, and George, and Ringo.
@@donm9644Me too, and I was also born in ‘55. Like you, I remember all the 👍 original bands + music we Baby Boomer’s had during those years. They are the 🌟 bygone “good ‘ole days” for sure imho!
Can't imagine, don't want to imagine that world. If I were ever to meet Paul, I'd likely just cry some joyful tears and shake his hand as I wouldn't be able to begin to frame what his life has meant to mine.
Me, too. I remember being maybe 5, in a diner on vacation in the early 1960s, hearing them for the first time on one of those old little jukeboxes at every table. I think the song was "She Love you, yeah..." and I was hooked.
I was 8 yrs old in 1964, The Beatles are the reason I've played drums my whole life. Thank You Paul and my man Ringo of course John and George (RIP) and all those screaming girls..
My sister was a teen during Beatlmania and I was a young kid. She kept buying more and more Beatle records and well as other 60s bands and I would stand in front of the mirror with a tennis racket acting like I was on stage playing guitar. Eventually ended up playing and have played ever since. I think that mid 60s and early 70s period was the best ever for pop music.
@@sir60man70 Same here ! My older sister brought home all the Beatles stuff when I was six years old.....we watched them on Ed Sullivan together, etc. At age 6, I played a left handed badminton racquet pretending to be Paul and my little friend P. J. pretended to be John Lennon and we'd perform while listing to the record player. I went on to be a full time career bass player, also left handed and owned a 1965 left handed Hofner bass back when I was a teenager. Wish I still had it !
What gives you the idea that anyone is ever lost? Do you think you are a "one life animal?" Siddartha Gautama covers this. YOU have been around a longggggggggggggggggggggggg time and will continue. the only question is in what state?
Back in the 90's, Paul McCartney was in concert in my area and I told my husband that if I could see Paul McCartney that I would never ask to go to another concert ever again. We saw him in concert and he was phenomenal!!! Why ask to go to any other concert when I have seen a living legend? Best concert ever!!!♥️
I'm 15 now and Paul is an idol of mine. I told my mother if we went to this that it would be the last concert I ever want to see as long as I live. I'm very glad I was able to see this wonderful legend.
I was born in '66 and I would have died and gone to heaven if a Radio station played a Beatles tune for the first time and I got to witness it. Like you did.
@@ognir66 I was born in '66 too. We both had the chance last year in November, with the amazing "Now and Then". Just once in a lifetime, but we did it. ❤
I am 64 and when I was 5 years old my sister and I used to used hairbrushes as microphones and sing Beatles songs in front of her large dresser mirror. I would also use a badminton racket as a guitar. Goes without saying that in 1971 I began playing guitar self taught by ear and still play every day to this day. Thank you Paul, George, John, and Ringo. You all played such a huge role in my life and will never be forgotten.
Paul McCartney, the name speaks for itself, thanks DJ. I can hear the emotion in his voice, with tears streaming down my face. Much love 4/this Masterpiece 🙏🏻✌🏻💓☝🏻🎸
“Johnny was a school boy, when he heard his first Beatles song” 🎶 I remember hearing them on the radio. And then watching them on Ed Sullivan. A day I’ll never forget… 2/9/1964 ❤️🙏
Nothing more appropriate than for Sir Paul singing this song to the world at this stage of his life; a song he had written almost 60 years ago. Thank you Sir Paul!!!
@@CB-xr1egGive her/him a break from the criticism - it was just an approximation, and not meant to be exact! ✅ UPDATE 4/28: For the 3 people who wrote comments today AFTER this original: WHAT does it matter how many years ago this was done? It’s a MUSIC video - not an ‘exam’ on how old it is, or rounding the #’s up or down!?
I'm 72. been listening since 1963 when I was introduced to the Beatle on the Top of the Pops TV show while on a visit with my family in Liverpool. Brought home the first album Meet the Beatles. will never forget...
Mum had serious Beatlemania in London when I was 6 and I'm 70 in September and we all had to be assimilated every weekend with Mum's ENTIRE Beatles Vinyl Collection ! It seems a MILLION light years ago but it's passed in the blink of an eye, How crazy is that ? But MUSIC IS LIFE. Thanks to Mum and Thanks to Paul and just EVERYONE who has graced my Life with their Musical AWESOMENESS 🕊️🙏
Paul looks good, he moves well, and still got the touch on the piano. One of the greatest living legends ever. Thank you, Sir Paul. I covered "Penny Lane" a while back, mainly because Sting said, "it's my favorite song". But it's become one of mine too... ""Penny Lane was a street in Liverpool, which also lent its name to the surrounding area. Lennon and McCartney both lived nearby, and often met at the Penny Lane junction to catch a bus into the city centre.""
I was 7 years old when the Beatles came into the scene, saw Paul McCartney 3 times in my life.Best friends spent Hrs singing along with thier songs. Thank You for the great music and great Memories!
When I was ten years old my best friend and I would argue over which of us would marry Paul when we grew up. I'm filled with warmth that Paul is still around, vital and performing as he is. God bless him.
I was in 6th grade when the Beatles broke the mold for all that followed in the music world. To this day at 71 hearing a Beatles song brings me joy and gratitude for having experienced them, their music and contribution to humanity.
This is the Eagles, what number final tour? These guys must blow money like crazy to have to keep touring and keep coming back after they say they have retired.
@@trvman1 NOT THE EAGLES, GLENN'S NOT THERE. YOU'D THINK THAT SINCE DON GOT MORE THAN GLENN'S WIDOW HE WOULDN'T HAVE TO GO ON TOURS...YA CAN'T KEEP GLENN'S MEMORY ALIVE HENSLEY, SO RETIRE.
I have admired & loved Paul for 60 years. Have had the great pleasure to have seen him perform in concert 10 times over the past 22 years. This was great to see, but listening to his singing voice in this brought tears to my eyes. But I still love him and wish him all the best. 🥰
I remember the morning Sgt Pepper came out. I got up early and went to the record store, waited for it to open, bought it, ran back to my apartment and played it, over and over, transfixed. I remember every moment. It changed pop music, rock, everything. These four guys lived within 15 minutes of each other, in the same century.
Woww what a wonderful and lovely performance even at this age😍😍😍 So much energy and liveliness✨❤️🔥 Long live Sir Paul McCartney and his brilliant performances💫✨
I’m very proud to be a Scouser and being from Liverpool. I’ve lived in America for 42 years and go back often as the people of Liverpool are truly amazing people. “The salt of the earth” one would say with a very witty humor ❤️❤️. That shows through Paul and Ringo and how open and down to earth they are…..that’s Liverpool ❤️
I'm the youngest out of 8. The only one not born under the wings of the Liver birds. But I did see Buddy Holly perform there and I still know my way there as well.
@RickaramaTrama-lc1ys never fear. There are lots of good young people out there. I've got 6 successful kids and got a passle of grandsons on their way to good carreers. They're out there. Maybe stop watching the news, LOL!
@@RickaramaTrama-lc1ys You got that right, I am 77 and I worry about my adult kids who are in their early 50s and late 40s, plus my grandchildren who are 19, 12, 5 and 2 years old. What will the world be like for them, I don't like the way it is going either.
I saw then at The Hollywood Bowl in 1964...twice at The Hollywood Bowl in 1965... and at Dodger Stadium in 1966. I'm 78 now and have Beatles memorabilia on my walls. My favorite word is IMAGINE and also PEACE. I grew up in the best decades for music and still play mostly 60s, 70s ,and 80s music. Guess I never really grew up. Thank you Paul, John, George and Ringo for being the soundtrack of my life ❤❤❤
For the first time in my life, I can see that Paul has finally gotten old. And I remember 2/9/1964 like it was yesterday. I guess that means I'm old as well. What a gift he's given us.
😆 LOL! Then that makes 3 of us so far! I’m 70ish and remember the original Beatles music, and the one from the same year as you too. I still recall begging my parents to let me stay up past my normal bedtime to watch them on the Ed Sullivan show, which was then considered as being late - that was such a great treat for me! What great memories of 👍 years gone by!
That makes at least 4 of us...I'm 78 and saw them in 1964, 1965 and 1967 at Hollywood Bowl and Dodger Stadium. Have seen Paul in concert many times since then, the last time was at the Hollywood Bowl about 10 years ago. We grew up in the best generation and I'm still listening to 60s 70s and 80s music. The Beatles started the soundtrack of my life ❤❤❤
@@cheralbond8659 I am just a year behind you, turned 77 in March, and i saw them in '64 and '66 in Cleveland. They didn't come here in '65 because our mayor BANNED them after the '64 concert! LOL. Saw Paul with WINGS in May of '76 in Detroit, and have seen him many times since his '89/'90 tour until recently
@patticrichton1135 Thank you for your reply (I actually didn't think my response went thru because I couldn't find it afterwards). I have so many memories, hung around outside their house on Benedict Canyon for 10 days in 1965. Saw Wings 3 times at The Forum, went to the landmine benefit (his one mistake w/Heather). Went to London for 3 months in summer of '69 (a few months after the final rooftop concert). Got totally immersed with The British Invasion. Ahhh... those were the days.... thanks for your reply. : )
Emotional but beautiful. Paul still got what it takes as if he was just a young guy. Much respect and love ❤️ What a fantastic Tribute for Jimmy with an All Star Cast.
I can't imagine Paul singing this to the so ill Jimmy. How does one not cry? Paul is so beyond generous. And genius. I'm so grateful to have the Beatles music as the background to my life. RIP Jimmy. 💜
Thank You Sir Paul McCartney for ALL the great music over these years! You are the BEST! Always my Beatles favorite! Still got it after all these years! Lovely tribute to Jimmy Buffet! So heart-warming once again! Let It Be! Love live Paul & Ringo! RIP John & George! 🎉❤❤❤❤🎉❤💙💙💙💙🎉💙🎵🎤⭐️🎁🎈💙🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🎉🌹🙏🌹🙏🌹🙏🌹🙏😇😇
I am so glad that I grew up listening to the Beatles songs. Paul Mccartney, never in my wildest dream that I would see you perform on the stage at Dodgers Stadium…. Thank for the the music…. You are incredible….
I first saw The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show when I was a kid. When I first saw Paul my jaw dropped. I had never seen a more beautiful face😍🥰and that's why I had to see The Beatles in person at their concert when they came to Chicago at the Chicago Amphitheater. In fact I saw them AGAIN when The Beatles came for a second concert at Comiskey Park!!!! Paul, I always loved you, always will🥰💕. Be happy, be healthy, be safe. Peace and Love✌☮❤
i had the pleasure of meeting linda and paul and the kids in odean birmingham uk 1976 ,with wings, amazing beatiful man, i was waiting at the stage back door , with some little children . paul got off the coach with his body guards , no one around , linda zooomed in on these little kids, we spent 5/6 mins talking to paul until linda was done, shuck his hand , mind blowing.
