The new release of the Helen Wheels video looks so good! I remembered it always being a bit blurry. It's great to see it so clear. Now, please get to all of those old Wings/McCartney videos Macca people. 🙂

I wonder if they should’ve called it the Pre-dubbed version. Under-dubbed makes it sound like it’s Let It Be Naked, in which they’ve gone back and deliberately removed additional instrumentation from the final mixes. Which is what I thought it was before watching this great explanatory video Andrew 👍

This has got to be the coolest archive release from Paul, the full Band on the Run in early mix/version form! Vintage alternates of his best record, not modern remixes or outtakes of unreleased/lesser songs. How exciting.

I'm looking forward to this release, and have enjoyed the bits I've heard so far. (Thanks, Wings Fun Club!) All the McCartney half-speed masters have been phenomenal -- the best I've ever heard for the respective albums -- so BOTR should be an essential release in the collection.

My favourite of all the McCartney 24/96 masters straight to the unlimited digital releases. Having worked at Abbey Road not only for my only musical mastering but having seen the equipment they use, and their attention to detail, I can say with absolute confidence that the analog to digital converters they use are absolutely state of the art. So to transfer the stereo master tapes to unlimited releases at 24bit/96khz, even with some mild equalisation, you're going to hear the closest thing to how the original master tapes sound. As in NO limiting. Limiting - is essentialy just a plugin that they could use and might raise the overall volume at the expense of the dynamics. The unlimited version is the way the album sounded when it was cut to tape, with the possibility of minor EQ. Trust Abbey Road engineers, they know what they are doing. Not that anyone asked. :)

I dithered about getting this re-release. At first I was, then I wasn't (I've already bought it on elpee, tape and twice on CD). I wasn't sure about the under dubbed version, but eventually I cracked and have it on pre-order. Having listened to the RU-vid under dubbed release of the title track, (in)complete with the missing verse, and found it interesting enough to justify a fifth addition to my collection. What is it with us Beatles fans? ;-)

Really looking forward to this one, makes you wonder if a similar thing may be done for some of the other later albums (Venus + Mars etc.)

I wonder how this bodes for future half-speed releases? Will future releases also get the option of a bonus disc or do you think this treatment is just because this is such a significant album? I'm really glad it's not another full-scale box set and it's been kept to one extra disc. I was worried we'd have to buy everything already on the Archive Series if we wanted the extra under-dubbed stuff

I can imagine Romesh Ranganathan on the Weakest Link quiz show in the bit where he says amusing things regarding misunderstandings of the questions... "Round Two... Who thinks a Half-Speed Master is a very slow teacher?" 😂

I ordered the 50th anniversary set, but i'm disappointed that the dtscd 5.1 mix won't be included.

As a Yank, my first exposure to this album included Helen Wheels. I understand that Paul didn't intend it for the album, but I think it fits in beautifully both musically and thematically.

Most fans will have at least one issue of Band On The Run on vinyl /cd or both that they are perfectly happy with the sound. On the Red & Blue 2023 mixes the 3rd vinyl/vinyls were not sold seperately despite the additional songs being pressed seperately. Likewise Band on the Run 2024 Underdubbed is not being offered as a single vinyl or cd. 🎶🙄

WHEN THEY FIRST GOT TO LAGOS THEY COULD NOT RECORD YET,BECAUSE THERE WERE NO ISOLATION BOOTHS,SO THEY HAD TO BE BUILT. PAUL ALSO SAID THAT AT THE BACK OF THE STUDIO THERE WAS A RECORD PRESSING PLANT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BACK DOOR. THANK YOU AND WE LOVE AND APPRECIATE YOU ANDREW ✌ 🍏

Is the underdubbed version going to be available stand alone as a download? I'm going draw the line on buying the original cd for the 5th (I think) time.

It will be interesting to hear the early "Band On The Run" mixes. But, I doubt I'll be purchasing the 2 CD set. Unless something is really striking to me.

Hi Andrew, do you know if the BOTR CD is a new version or a previous release. If it has been released before, it will mean that the consumer is paying £20 for the Underdubbed disc.

My understanding is half masters are never on a picture vinyl. Releases of Bowie says bowie picture vinyl and lp from same master but only the lp has the sticker mentioning the half master. So both use the same master but the lp done at half speed and the picture lp at normal speed, could you confirm please

Are you aware how much history there is between Tony Visconti and The Beatles? His initial reason to come to England to produce was to emulate Beatles/George Martin. He produced all Bolan/T.Rex singles and album from 1968 to end of 1973 (ending around Band on the run time). He followed the Beatles template of recording the band then along with Bolan adding countless overdubs. He produced the music for the Dec 1972 Ringo Starr produced T.Rex film Born To Boogie of which Paul and Linda attended the launch party with Ringo, Bolan and Visconti. T.Rextacy was the next biggest thing after Beatlemania which John Lennon applauded. Maybe Paul wanted to tune into that to. Howie Casey played the amazing sax solo at the end of the March 1973 T.Rex smash 20th Century Boy which TV produced. Maybe TV recommended him to Paul. Visconti met Lennon, Bowie and May Pang at Lennon's apartment during lost weekend. He was married to Mary Hopkin in 1971 and later married May Pang in 1989. All in all he must have over the moon to work with Paul.

I assume the main album is not remixed or remastered, and uses the same versions as the 2010 archive edition?

You're over a month late on this album, it was issued as Apple SO-3415 on 5th December in the less-important US market, 1973 and as Apple PAS-10007 in the *far more important British market* on 7th December, 1973 which is screwy because it should've been issued in Britain and Australia/New Zealand and Europe first as these are *FAR MORE IMPORTANT MARKETS* than the mere USA!

This is the first time i've chosen not to buy a McCartney release for years!! I'm getting the half speed BUT not the under-dubbed. Enough is enough!! I don't mind hearing demos (I find them fascinating) but selling unfinished songs... what's he doing??

I always get annoyed when they do these 50th anniversary mixes... and all they do is remaster it, and not a remix. I don't know why they refused to do it for some albums, one example that annoys me is they didn't give Ram a remix despite there being a need for one due to badly handled stereo.

Ugh...so have no use for this album, anymore. It's terribly dated and I don't need another copy...digital and overpriced at that.
