Just because Paul Merson was a footballer doesn't mean he is immune from addiction or mental health problems. It doesn't matter what job you do or how much money you earn. Addiction and mental health problems don't discriminate.

@Matthew McRowan does a homeless person on the street in this country have everything they could ask for? No food, no house, no money, quite often have problems with alcohol or drugs because their homeless....... we are lucky that we don't live in a 3rd world country but it doesn't mean that mental health and addiction isn't a problem. Basically what you're saying is because we are fortunate enough to live in a country that isn't 3rd world then we shouldn't have any problems...... at the end of the day if someone needs help wether it's because of mental health problems, lack of food or anything else then they shouldn't be afraid to speak about it but unfortunately when people put ignorant comments on the Internet about it it can cause them not to speak out and make the problem even worse. Imagine if someone you know reads the comments that you're making public right now and you don't know what they are going through.....

@@101gunnersfan101 "Addiction and mental health problems don't discriminate".. That's actually not true. Yes, depression and addiction can hit anyone. But it's mostly people with common characteristics. Many people with mental health problems are just people who are going through the negative consequences of their own actions. There are however, some who are genuinely at no fault and they will get hit with depression.

@C I do understand what you mean when you say some people are more susceptible to it than others not always through any fault of their own but this idea that because we live in a country that isn't 3rd world or someone may have lots of money and/or a nice job means we shouldnt have any problems is ridiculous.

If you watch the video, he quite clearly doesn't expect people to feel sorry for him. This video is quite clearly to help people see that it's ok to speak about mental health problems. Comments like yours are why some people are afraid to speak out on their mental health problems and end up taking their lives. Maybe think about that before you post an ignorant comment like this next time....
