This is Dr. Paul. GREAT AA speaker! He is the author of "Acceptance is the Answer" in the Big Book. (Formerly known as "Doctor, Alcoholic, Addict")
Addiction treatment WORKS! The Twelve Step Model has been utilized as a treatment for alcohol abuse and alcoholism since 1935. It is extremely important to know that help IS out there and addiction recovery is possible. If you are battling alcoholism, drug addiction, addiction or any other form of addictive behavior, there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!
You can find out more at: www.aa.org - Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site - As should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other Twelve Step Program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.
It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her alcohol abuse treatment. Substance abuse is a very serious condition and has become an epidemic in today's world. Many people suffering with substance abuse need treatment, such as inpatient stays, rehab, or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction issues. Help IS out there!
From the book Alcoholics Anonymous: "In spite of the great increase in the size and span of this Fellowship, at its core it remains simple and personal. Each day, somewhere in the world, recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic, sharing experience, strength, and hope."

That is why we have the large and engaged following that we do. Have fun and enjoy listening to the amazing, wonderful, and powerful recovery speakers!

I’ve come to realize I’m a dry drunk - I’ve been dry for almost 20 years and with my son leaving for college, something drew me into recovery and into an AA meeting - something struck me even more, so I started watching these videos and sure enough - there I was. I always thought of myself as a binge/social drinker - not a problem with it - I gave it up to have kids. Now I’m an empty nester and the only thing keeping me dry is my pride for now - I know it’s time to get serious with my recovery. Thank you for this.

Please start going to meetings and just listen for the first few weeks, and you will hear snippets of your own story through others. Just going to meetings isn't enough for the longhaul. I had to get a sponsor and start actually working the steps. I'm coming up on four years sober. My sobriety date is 9-13-2020

It gets better and better. Dr Bob and Bill Wilson, the founding fathers of the program were hopeless drunks. Rarely seen a person fail, who has desire to stop drinking and thoroughly follow the path. We don't get better over night. We have an opportunity to get well, 1 day at a time, if willing to go any length to get what AA offers. The spiritual connection with higher power gives me a daily reprieve from my old way of living. The old timers are just 1 drink away from disaster too. Search for and get a Sponsor asap. You will be amazed at the changes and how much better you are, before half way through 12 steps

Mike Fisher my dad gave me his father's (my grandfather) big book. it's a 1974 printing of the second edition. I've had a lot of big books, and a lot of relapses, and now this is the last big book I'll ever need. I'm 5 months sober and doing better than I ever have. after 3 years, a heart attack and a stroke, ICU visits every other month, I'm finally sober, happy, joyous, and free. so grateful for my higher power. so grateful for aa.

When I finally decided to throw in the towel and let go; happened some 35 years ago. I could not identify with recovery when I first started attending meetings, I loved the funny stories and that in itself kept me coming back, and eventually, the penny dropped. I purchased some Clancy I tapes and again loved the stories and again the message of sobriety came through. . AA is a fantastic programme and I literally owe my life to the fellowship and many members who took the time to talk and listen to this confused individual. Advice to newcomers - Go to meetings on a regular basis - don't drink in between meetings and Keep it simple. And above all Keep the want of being sober the most important item in your life and you will do fine.

If you knew this man at all, he never said that people have to accept anything at all! Now you so called good sponsors are out there treating this as gospel, convincing your poor sponsees this crap and now look at the mess. Why dont you stick to the program, which is found in the first 164 pages and that IS the BIG BOOK! Acceptance my ass..... i dont have to accept shit!

I’ve made it 15 Months. I showed up on Zoom about 2 years ago. I made it 3 months just doing meetings, but that wore off. I did some F it drinking for a few months. I knew I couldn’t drink normally. I came back, dragged my butt to in-person meetings, found a sponsor, eventually leaned into the fellowship despite being kind of shy, got in service, and eventually life got WAY better. It was never OK. Now, I’m almost always OK or better. Today I’m struggling a little. I’m not going to drink, and that’s just the way it goes sometimes. I write this because someone will read this and be inspired to change their life for the better. Plenty of Zoom meetings out there. That’s an easy place to start. Try your nearest big city because they’ll have more meetings at different times.

I thought relatively recently that I had accepted the fact that I was an Alcoholic, and that in the face of that knowledge the only logical way to proceed was to not drink. That made sense, or so I thought. I have come to realise that I have been white knuckling this attempt at sobriety, that a desire to stop drinking is a starting point but is in no way enough! I feel as though I am reaching that point whereby complete + total surrender is the only real option available to me. How to go about surrendering, however, continues to elude me. Love + understanding to the still suffering Alcoholic reading this + beyond.

D Tschuor None of us in recovery can afford to live on the periphery of AA. Find a “step” meeting, put your phone away, sit next to someone with long term sobriety, and stop the “half measures”! Best wishes to you!

Made a decision!! (I. Made. A decision.). Have you made a decision to turn your life and your will over to a Higher Power ? If so call AA. He’s in charge of Worry. And I’m in charge of work. That’s staying Sober in a nut shell :). It works !!! :)

My best friend died Aug.25,1985. It was 10;30 am. That's when I drank my last beer yes that's 32 years. I had drank for 44 years. I got fired from my first job at 17 for going to work drunk. I had been warned 3 times. My boss at the grocery store said I needed to grow up and should join the army. So I did. Now lots of good drinking buddies. Drank thru the service, when I got out drank. Couldn't do a damn thing without drinking. I always had a job where I could drink everything from picking fruit to working on a roofing crew. Then started my own roofing company. Would drink but it was hard to tell or I thought anyway. I never thought I had a problem, so anybody that might read this If you think you have a problem you do. How many of you right now can tell me the time of your last drink. If anybody then please bury your best friend.
