Those essential mixes of the mid to late 90s were absolutely fantastic especially as an American teenager where this shit was almost unknown. The global underground sets were solid too. Remembering listening to Pete online back then one of the first streamers and ordering import CDs at my local shop. The people at the desk were probably like who the f is this 14 year old ordering all these European imports? Lol taking me back.

where did 22 years go? this sounds as fresh as the day it hit the airwaves

I've listened to his essential mixes from 99 that he did in Shanghai, Space in Ibiza and Havana, Gatecrasher - Lotherton Hall is the best to rave to obviously, but this mix is the best for me personally - the shifts from uptempo to downtempo are done so well between the tracks and those with lyrics in them are just all in the right places. His new autobiography is also worth reading.

The most famous mix from oakenfold is the Goa full moon party - I with loads of friends listen to it live; Using clips from bladerunner with Vangelis was and still is this day immense. - Strange how today you are unable to party like we used to, or is it that we have sleep walked into an open prison.

Didn’t start or end in the ‘90s. Started listening in the 60’s people, still listening to the father’s and grandfather’s of trance and dance. Just like this long road, there is no end to looking back BUT also moving forward. And this is said by someone who has obviously been around longer than most of you!

Used to set the cassette tape recorder for the essential mix on a saturday night whilst out raving at Cream... Gatecrasher...Bed...Insomniacs..Niche..Casa Loco...Back to Basics etc and replaying belters like this when getting back for crazy carry ons on a Sunday! OMG.....wish i could go back!

I usually enjoy every Oakey set but something about 95-01...his best trance days. Starting mid-2000’s he went too housey
