This actually WAS a vision that Dr. Strange had in his explorations of alternate futures. Sadly, instead of killing thanos, an explosive liquidified skeleton of ant man being propelled behind thanos and clouding Tony's vision at a key moment was the only result, causing mission failure. You can see the result of this which was Dr. Strange giving the time stone to Thanos at the exact moment that Ant man was in the quantum zone, trapping him and foiling this plan Thus preserving the one successful timeline.
