"This is the Garden of Kadesh. For thirteen generations we have protected it from the unclean. The Turanic Raiders who came before you refused to join and were punished for this trespass. Like theirs, your ship has already defiled this holy place. If you have come to join we welcome you and will spare your ship until all have disembarked. If you have come to consume the garden you will be removed at once." - Kadeshi Ambassador

@@LehySnek If you will not join, then die. There is no withdrawal from the Garden.... The sadest part of this is that the Kadesh is the decendants of the first Hiigaras that got lost when they went into exile.. Homeworld has the best storyline of any game aver and I can't understand why there isn't a movie or series made out of it.
I was unaware of the significance of this RU-vid video. I mean you no dislike. Please allow me time to listen to the video's audio content so that I may move on to the next video as requested.
Nine year old me's strategy for defeating this level was converting everything I could to scouts and bombers before leaving the previous level, and then engaging the Kadeshian's in massive dogfights whilst flights of bombers took out the larger vessels. It worked, but it was a goddamned logistical nightmare.
heavy corvettes paired with interceptors worked well against the swarms, while frigates and destroyers flanked their fuel pods. Salvage corvettes are really useful in the 2nd Kadesh encounter, if you plan to comandeer their multi-beam frigates. These 2 levels made me sweat a lot though..
@@TheMightyNaryar uh-huh but its not like the enemy is going to ignore them right? And even if the corvette survive the first contact they can still be blasted even when doing salvaging. In other words, it takes around 20-30 corvettes to salvage one capital ship. Not worth the effort.
7 yrs old me managed to, somehow, beat Homeworld while current me is struggling to not get torn a new one by the Kadesh Guardians... 7yrs old me knew what's up
This is when I go to the kitchen, while this tune hums entire household in loud volume, in search of food and return only to see there's more left for harvesting, xD. It was rather relaxing, since introduction of multi beam frigate which I manage to capture almost 6 or more of them.
Actually now that I think about it, the home world that I played was modded to have a fast forward button. I don't think there is one in this game I'm afraid.
i love your take on this..ill take it a step further: the nebula is waking from a pleasant dream...to the harsh cold and darkness of space...but hopes and fond memories sustain it until the sun (galactic core) finally rises. |)
the garden of kadesh still sends shivers though my body ... when i first played this game I though it was beautiful .... the gardens were even better..
For anyone wondering, this ISN’T impossible! Heavy/ Light/ Salvage Corvettes are the only units you need (as well as assault frigates, but they will be shot at first) and lots of them! When they attack, disregard any attack against the mothership or nearby ships. I suggest for the garden (not the cathedral) to dock all non-combat ships in the mothership/carrier if you have one and keep them there for the rest of the battle. When Multi-beams come out, then release up to 12 salvage corvettes at them, 2 each. Evasive tactics are best. Use the corvettes (fighters are useless) immediately against the fuel pods. Not long after, the swarmers should retreat. Then go after them on an offensive. The Needle Motherships HAVE AN ION CANNON AND WILL KILL WITH THEM! Instead of not attacking with assault frigates (first priority for enemy ions), move the frigates directly behind where the mothership is pointing. They will then try to turn around. Keep attacking from behind using all the forces and there should be minimal casualties.
I remember skipping weeks of college to play this game. The music in it was beyond words. The most atmospheric game / OST of all time, hands-down, no contest!
I love this music. So serene... Yet there's something unsettling about it. I seem to remeber that part around 1:00 the most. Homeworld is a great game, as is HW2. Cata, I haven't played.
Hard to think that a specific group of enemies that only appear in two missions can have a huge and memorable impact in this game as a whole. Even more so if you read the manuals for this game and Cataclysm/Emergence.
This song sounds so eerily beautiful. First thing I thought of were whales, and I never quite understood the Kadesh through the clouded chaos of the main game's story.
@TheRadioactivemutant Agreed! The OST of those two games was impressive as well... But they were released in an age where everyone is jaded and is kinda expecting a certain quality.
I know its old and you may not see this.. Maybe you didn't destroy all the Kadeshi motherships :) happened to me to, after that hyperspaced normally. unless you really destroyed everything :P
Their emissary says something like that before you start battling. They just ignored the leave part, or they were saying if you dont leave your ships then you would die.
