A Canadian firebrand, An entertaining figure, and a 2003 Champ, Paul Tracy would evolve from a soft-spoken Canadian, to a aggressive overtaker toward the end of his career.
This is the story, of the thrill from west hill.

Growing up my favorite drivers were Jeff Gordon in NASCAR and Paul Tracy in IndyCar He was the literal definition of Win it or Bin it, it was fun to watch. Another favorite of mine was Brett Favre....guess I just had fun watching those highly skilled time bombs lol (edit Well, actually ... now that I am thinking about it there were more lol)

He was a personality, one that the sport could use again. Hell.. any motorsport, it seems.

@@ClumsyCardboard Closest we have now is Will Power. 2 weeks ago at Road America was vintage with his double birds and a good shove. Not quite the same as Tracy, but their careers actually are rather similar lol. (Hot headed, fast, held back by only themselves, should have more chips, Penske lol) Shame he is starting to get up there.

In the American racing series he was unbeatable! After his one year at Newman/Haas Racing, the next year I was at Road America and on a table at the Newman/Haas hospitality tent, someone had Photoshopped his face on a "Captain Crunch Cereal" box. he was a little hard on equipment that year. At most races he'd have his motor home with his bad ass Harley parked next to it. Nazareth speedway he had all but lapped the field by 3 laps!! Roger, over the radio, said to slow down. Crunch in the wall!! The dance with Tagliani. Yup the Trill! He pirouetted off track at Portland and ended up outside of someones campground.
@ClumsyCardboard

It seemed like he was especially incredible at mile long speedways. Those outside passes were great
@NotSteveCook
@NotSteveCook 11 месяцев назад
It was Phoenix where he had everyone lapped twice. Got impatient behind future buddy Jimmy Vasser. But a great moment was when Bourdais clipped his left front wing off at Toronto, but he continued to lead handily. The stuff of legends!

Paul was his own worst enemy when it came to racecraft. He was without a doubt top five in talent. You did a nice job with this video. Tracy had gobs of talent. (and totally unlikable) The English have a word for it..... Tracy won the Indy 500, Helio was out of fuel (I was listening to in car radio) The beginning of the total sham Indy has become.
@ClumsyCardboard
@ClumsyCardboard Год назад
Glad you enjoyed kev! And yes, you’re absolutely right, he couldn’t get out of his own way. He’s pretty much implied, or even outright said, as much in interviews. As for the Indy 500, he was ahead by at least a half a car length by the time they wrecked, and over a car length by the time they threw the yellow. It’s hard not to say that they did it on purpose to prevent a CART guy win an IRL race when something that blatant happens. He will, at least to me, always be the 2002 Indy 500 winner
