I went to the love parade in 2001, saw PVD do 9 hours in Berlin at Columbia Hall with Nick Warren, Changed my life. (he dropped that Lustral Track "every time i close my eyes" I still get chills... I am glad to see how many other agree that trance has gone to shit and that there is still support of the classics like this set. PVD Crushes this set.
trance will never be the same as it was, that is for sure. 1997-03 were for sure the golden years. But there is some tolerable stuff coming back now which is nice to see (and hear..). Especially as the EDM fad seems to be disappearing..PvD was a god at places in the UK like Gatecrasher and Godskitchen too in that time. I'm seeing Herr Van Dyk in Sydney this friday for the first time in circa 5 years. I hope he delivers as he always used to!! Incidentally seeing nick warren again after a long lay off in a few months too!
Saw Herr van Dyk at the night i aforementioned - he was fucking awful . ATB played before him and was marginally better than him only for the fact he played 9pm till i come (and that is a shit tune so that is a guage of how awful the night was) . Nah i truly believe when the cheezy edm riffs have been fucked off, underground trance will rise again.
Adrian Whittaker dont take drugs bitch ;) youre a poor noob. Just one big NOTHING , what do you know about real trance. Fucking hater go and listen do spicegirls or backstreet boys
To be fair this music had an incredible run from 93 to 2005. I dont think you can replicate the freshness of the music along with the technological changes, the quality of that era and the optimism of the time that made this music what it is.
I was at work the night this went out on the essential mix. I tuned in at 2am on a Sunday thinking I'll listen to the first ten minutes. I ended up listening to the whole two hours.
Yes 🇩🇪 pvd rocked it hard bro 💥👍😉🎚🎛🎹🥁🎶🔉👊. And still amazing trance master. I had a awsome night aswell 😌 best 👌 of the best loving it still 22 yrs later.👍🎶🎹🎚🎛🔉😉🥁 💥
What a legendary night's we all had at the casino in Berlin. Paul was absolutely destroying the croud for up to 10 hours until 11 a. m. Some people were coming to Casino at 7 a. m. just after breakfast to see Paul playing.
I love the "old PvD" the most. When he was still playing songs from other producers not only his own stuff. Yet he is one of the best and I still go to his shows.
This is my most memorable essential mix! Carried a tape recording of this around for a couple of years! Unreal! Remember tapes anyone? 2 hours of bliss!
Its 2021... im still here. you are still here.... PVD is still here with this classic set.... Put me in that screaming crowd, eyes dilated at the 26 minute mark.... "Deeep dowwnnn beloowww" You the Man Tomislav!
I never realised it was a remix of chicanes autumn tactics!! Always thought it was his own track but what a remix really brings out all the best elements in the track 🔥
Danke Paule
one of the livest rave parties I've ever been to was Casino with PVD and Nick Warren circa 2002, I believe at the old location of the Casino parties.. I was expecting a mega club and this is early internet days, not a lot of info out... I walked into a dank warehouse, crazy lazer lights and the best party I've ever been to on my life. PVD always played harder for the home crowd, my God man I miss the old days.
Yes it's true. After 2 am he usually played harder stuff. I saw him with Ferry Cistern in 2004 in Berlin. After 3am it sounded like Schranz music. The crowd went totally crazy. At the beginning Paul had played progressive trance. Ferry was mindblowing too btw.
WTF! Casino! PvD! I was there! I was at every PvD/Vandit night at Casino (and ofc at all his other events in Berlin). Casino was my fav club and my "main base". Went there with my friends all the time and we' had a blast. We mourned heavily when that place closed down. I still have quite some special photos of one of Paul's Casino events. Anyway, I never thought I'd come across a PvD at Casino set all the years later. I'm so glad BBC released this. Thx for the upload!
@@elliot7573 Thx, I went through my archive recently and I'll scan the negatives and consider posting them somewhere eventually. Prolly Instagram, we'll see.
This set has an amazing hard edge to it. PVD's mainstream trance sets can feel a bit... "safe" sometimes, but not this one. The place feels like it's descending into chaos! Fantastic.
@@DustinWunderlich Die Party-Stadt! Ich war nie da, wuerde so gerne die Superclubs besuchen, besonders wenn ich eine Timemaschine bauen und im Jahre 2000 landen koennte... 😞
Alibi - Eternity - I have been humming that tune for the better part of a decade without knowing what on earth it was. RU-vid and their uploaders - awesome. PvD when he was literally a god. Trance of today is so so so shit in comparison. itwillalwaysbewithyou
Still one of my favourite cassettes from them good old days Inn my top ten definitely 1st place though judge jules live at Portrush Kelly's N. Ireland check it out won't be disappointed garunteed
Me, too! I lived in Sheffield. True story this, one night for PVD's 6 hour set back in 99 I got there late about 12:30 and the doormen refused to let me in as it was full up absolutely bouncing inside. So I went to the cash machine and bribed one of the bouncers with £100 to let me in that's how desperate I was lol. Best night ever got loads of free pills as well, and they would let me in for nothing most weekends after that. Good times. Itwillalwaysbewithyou 🙌🏻
if you guys like this set, you NEED 18.08.2001 from the the following year. It used to be on RU-vid but the uploader deleted for some stupid reason, but you can still find it on Soundcloud. Good quality too.
If you like this set THEN CHECK OUT PvD live from Home in Leicester Square R1 Essential Mix. Those 2 sets epitomises PVD @ his best & the two best Essential Mixes. 'Nuff' said.........
