I used to love Paul Weller BUT I'm tired of waiting for this man to grow up. He still f'ing sounds like a 13 year old school boy with no internal growth, even though he's been lucky enough to travel the best places in the world, worked with the best musicians and music legends, his conversations lack any form of depth, passion or wisdom - has not changed in 50 years and I don't know if he's trying to stay relevant to the 'working classes' but he hangs and lives around the Kings Road and Maida Vale - super posh areas, so why is this 'I haven't changed' façade necessary - its completely ingenuine - even an illiterate in the slums of India was to never leave his hut would have changed and grown wiser in 50 years. He's done so much drink and drugs that his voice is weakened, physique is that of a 90 year old man and so is his looks (and he used to be one of the most beautiful men of his generation) and on top of that - like things could not get any worse - Jimmy Saville is some sort of style icon now

You sort of got me confused about your last line, though i agree with you in all the other remarks. It's been 30 years since i was last interested in his musical works, though i don't find Wild wood that special. With Confessions of a PG, i guess he reached his compositional peak, though i think he was somehow proving the world he had close-to-Bacharach-talent. In 77 / 79 the Jam were one of my top favourite groups, mainly because of the first four albums; the following 2 records were excellent but they seemed to announce greater flights, and that always causes ten$ions amidst groups that have gone really popular. On the other hand , i really cherished ideas like ''From the Jam'' - it was not the old age pensioners relief yet... Just to do justice to one of Wella's classics, yes, one of my sons is called Edward, he's still at college but after a Phd, at 26, and sometimes he doesn't acknowledge my phone calls, because he's busy. But, ''Private Hell'' is definitely my Jam song. Cheers.
