Great find, I can remember listening to that interview, at the time, like most Jam fans I was gutted they were breaking up. But listening to Weller, for such a young lad like he was then, so brave to end it. I'm coming up to 60 now, how true his words were, the Jam were and will always be known as one of the best bands this country has ever produced. One thing that kept Jam fans onboard was the bands honesty, and never selling out.
Outstanding. Everything he says is true. He said elsewhere that ‘this is us being loyal to our fans’. He’s right. How could they possibly have stayed together?
But why blank Rick and Bruce fully and also the fans ? There would be no harm to the legacy of the jam to see a few gigs down the lines over the years, like the 20th anniversary or a 40th anniversary tour that would have made millions for 6 months work and then Paul could then go back to solo stuff
