One of the greatest guitarists that ever lived and one of the most unknown . The fact that Chet chose him as his backup says it all. You would have to be some damn good to be Chet Atkins backup guitarist. He could match Chet note for note or do the whole show by himself and if everyone closed their eyes you would never know Chet wasn't there. That's how good Paul Yandell was.
I don't think Paul actually got the credit he deserved. Most of us never even knew he was Chet's accompianist. This man was one of the best guitar players in the world.
You have practice a very long time to get that tom working independently from the other fingers!! Congreatolations. I have practis a lot too, but I never got it, ( but now have your video here to look at, and the melodies to try) Thank's a lot for this Paul! The best to you! 🙂 I supose you are damping the 3 lower strings with your right hand to make the acompment?
"the perfect song" was used by the old TV series 'Amos and Andy'. I'm not old enough to know if it was used on the original radio version of Amos and Andy.
Must have been nice when it got tough to know where to go next in a song or how to proceed next when you had the greatest guitar player that ever lived Chet Atkins there to show you the ropes Paul. I envy you for being able to play so long with Chet and you sound great also..
