So many of the comments here are so ridiculously negative! Yes, a 67 year-old man can’t sound like he did when he was 30! What do you expect! But he’s all still there, in the spirit of things, and he looks fantastic for his age. His recorded music and legacy speaks for itself. I’m grateful for the color he added to the musical footprint of the Eighties. Keep it up, Paul Young, and thank you!
Respect to Paul, still giving it his all!! And we know how good he can be. I mix this together with just being grateful to be able to see him perform now. Thanks RU-vid for this opportunity (and LORDOFTHE80S)!!!
I am guessing as you get older you still have the breath but the vocal chords are not as flexible. You have to push more air to get them to move/vibrate.
@@taylor-vl1re True. but also your lungs dont work the same anymore. and trough out your life alveoli/ lung sacks rip/ die and ones they are damaged or dead they wont heal anymore. So you will have less and less ( althought you have milions of them. ) So you have less air/ oxigen. You will start to breath shorter and faster. Wich also gives you less oxigen . Im an MC/Host/Announcer myself. im 50 years old now been an announcer almost all my life. from school party's to weddings to hiphop partys to Huge raves announcing the dj's or singers / dance acts etcetera. I can feel it myself that i dont have the same "power" anymore that i had 10 to 20 years ago. ( the air you push to move the vocal cords) and i cant strech words as long anymore ( at the end of the announcenment or like "make some noooooooiiise ! ) Im still good i just adjust to it with my lyrics and announcements. and a good sound boy and mic does wonders too. to give you a bit more "power"where needed.
Viva Paul Young! Now, we are old... 80' are gone. But stay the memories. Paul Youn is a great Artist. Forever! My admiration for a human being and artist such as there are none today. Let's value people NOT by are, but by what they gave us throughout their career. Form Santiago de Chile my greetings to All! ❤🙏🏻🍀🎶🇨🇱 (July.21.2024)
I 200% Agree with you. We don't know what could have possibly happened through the years. I still Respect him for having the courage to come and perform for true fans. Frankie Beverly from Maze did the same thing. I believe he did his last show recently. And the ppl still come out and show him love. Blessings to them both. 💜💜🙏🏾🙏🏾💜💜
Paul Yong already had voice problems when at the peak of his popularity. He didn't' had a lot of reach in his voice. But still I really enjoyed his voice colour and music. Thanks for that Paul. You will not be forgotten!
People pretending they're perfect and wouldn't age if they were a singer because their life choices would have been so much better is pretty much exactly what social media is for lol. He's human. Some people die at 27 due to life choices. He's a legend, give him a break.
I'll give him credit. Some parts of his singing still sound like the 80s Paul Young. But other parts are pretty rough. It's just such a fun upbeat song that its hard to not like it.
People can be so mean. Mr. Young may have dealt w/illnesses or other struggles. He has toured & traveled places many of us could only dream of visiting, all the while rubbing shoulders & sharing stages w/superstars! Even if he never picks up another 🎤he’s already had a very fulfilling life & saw his dreams become reality. 🧢🎩👒 off to you Mr. Paul Young! Thank you for your contribution.❤❤
I remember him when he was in the Q tips in the 70s. Great vocalist and performer in those years. Sad to see him having to do this when clearly he should retire.
It's not up to any of us to tell others when to give up/throw it in/retire. You might one day find yourself in the situation that others judge you and tell you to stop doing what you think you have to do. Think about it.
@@martindeandrade1275 This isn't aging; this is improperly singing for too long. His voice is irreparably damaged. There are singers older than him who still sound quite good. It IS possible; it just isn't possible for him.
@@martindeandrade1275 he is only 67, he fucked his voice. There are PLEANTY of over 65yo singers still with their voices intact including Cher and Dolly Parton
Blondie once sang ‘Die Young, Stay Pretty’ … I think that just about sums up most of these artists from the past who are ruining their own legacy by not knowing when it’s time to leave the party.
He is singing live... Fair play him. Most bands i go and see are from 80/90 and there voices are shot, but still a fab show... Rob Halford sounds like the 90s still but he is an anomoly lol...
That was truly fuckin painful and if you're prepared to put money in his pocket and pay just to see him...regardless of how he sounds, then fair play to you...but you've got more money than sense
Listen to Daryl Hall sing this very song that he wrote with John Oates in Daryl's house. There is no comparison. All these years I only knew Paul Young's version, but Hall & Oates is just a completely different experience.
Sad to see (or more to the point sad to hear) but to be hoest he sounds better here than he did when I saw him live. I saw Paul in 2016 touring with Go West and Nik Kershaw, I was excited to see him live as I loved his songs and voice in the 80's but I couldn't believe what I was hearing or seeing. He couldn't' hold a single note and the way he moved around stage I honestly thought he was drunk, so I figured that's probably why he sounded so bad. I did some research the next day and, well OK he might have had a drink or two before he came on stage that night, but it turns out his voice is shot most likely from singing incorrectly for too long. He did always sound like he was pushing some of those notes back then and I guess maybe he didn't have the strongest of voices so sooner or later that strain of singing like that without proper technique would take its toll. On the other hand Go West and Nik sounded amazing, just like they did in the 80's. Personally I'd rather rewatch videos of Paul singing these songs at Live Aid 1985. He sounded great back then.
Sarei x un dignitoso ritiro. Obiettivamente e con rispetto. Le fasi della vita vanno accettate x quelle che sono. P. s. Anche x altrettanto rispetto x chi (eventualmente) paga un ticket.
I admire Paul's work a lot. But if you listen back to the 80s live concerts, his live vocals weren't much better. There is no doubt that this is a result of vocal cord damage over the years. But hats off to him. He’s in his late 60s now. He’s still a legend.
Ahhh...come on... He seems like a great guy and i wish the man all the best, but don't fool yourself. His voice nowadays is not good. And in the 80's his singing was far better for sure. Just be realistic!
His vocals weren’t much better in the 1980’s?!!! I beg to differ. I don’t know what 80’s videos of his that you’ve watched but that is the opposite of what I’ve observed. I don’t think that Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, David Gilmore, Bobby Womack, etc. would have wanted to work with him if they didn’t think he was a talented singer back then.
@@CockneyRebel1979 If you go back and listen to his concerts back in the 1980’s, contrary to what the OP said, he sounded A LOT better than he does now. They didn’t need to be “cleaned up” in the studio.
saw him in 98 even poor in a school auditorium in bavaria but now its over, for years ! - and here in hamburg he will in february sing for 61 euro discusting"
